Ok..here's a wip colored up version...not satisfied with it at all,

Will also get to replies soon.

Dave: well boss..im hoping some part of the color up is able to put things in a generally better sense of depth...lets see and go from there.
Lee and Brendan: Ok...color is there..not really grooving it at the moment..but maybe somehow I'll try and pull it through...dont know just yet.
MagicGoo: Ursula..(if I may be so bold)...thanks so much for the shot in the arm. I appreciate it. But like i said over in your book...you got things a bit backasswards...it's you that can school me on alot of things. Thanks for dropping in. Cheers!
Lee(2): thanks bro...much appreciated...as for the thumbnails...i have no answer for you in terms of why it's happening other than this sb was probably around before all the changes to CA..so when I make the new SB..i'll probably get the benefits of all the new upgrades to the site.
That's just a theory...but i have not heard any good explanation or correction that would help things out. Sorry man, but know that alot of people including me share your frustration.
Thanx for stopping by my book
You've been cracking out some truly beautiful work.
Last one is a gem. Played WoW for a while, I know exactly how useful this thing will be.
Too bad it takes for ever to level up and I'm bankrupt lol.
Great design, the dreadlord stuff too.
Always loved the dreadlords from WarCraft3, funny bunch o' twisted fluckers haha.
Now to boost that horribly unfairly low rating of yours, 5 star stuff mate.
oh yeah - Paperblue.net is outworldly. Glad I listened to your suggestion, but I regret that I disregarded the chair part. My head hurts lol.
ooh! lite brite teef!
it's a good start hoss....keep da bones rollin'.
There is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "i" in meat pie. Meat is the anagram of team...~Shaun "Shaun of the Dead"
I like the direction you're taking with the color's... it reminds me of a cross between Battle-cat and his purple nemisis. Upon seeing the initial sketch I had more of an artic wolf color scheme in my head... it's always good to be surprised.
"Baby, you make me wish I had three hands!"
Okey dokey...here's the color up as far as I can take it for now. I know
it could probably use a ton of color correction. Gah! CA.org is proofing the colors in CMYK...and here I've been trying to proof them in Windows/Mac RGB...
Im involved in the CA.org Gift Exchange...and i will have to take
a small respite from the other work i have goin on.
But trust me...i will be back on this topic with a friggin vengeance after that.
Responses to come.

BrendanN aka Big D : Hey there, yeah the inspiration behind this design was the frustration i found ingame. Mountains you thought you could cross but alas no way to get up them and into those really cool areas or into those lands that you want to explore. And yeah leveling to get a mount then having the gold for the lessons, and the cost of the mount...geez ..really expensive.
Holy cow 5 stars man...you humble me...im not in that realm, but i appreciate it nonetheless.
Im glad you enjoyed paperblue, the skill level and sheer inspiration value there are enough to make one simply weep. I wish he put together a more cogent and well planned out tut...i guess here's to just hoping one day he does. Thanks as always for droppin in on the sb...i think after the holidays I'll be starting up the new one, and the first post will be the Gift Exchange pic.
Hope there's been some relief from the heat down your way. Best to ya.
Dave: Thanks man for the shot in the arm. Hopefully now I've settled the whole proofing thing...and calibration crap. It's enough to just make one go mad. I gotta head over to your book and take a look at that new jellyfish of doom. Cheers!
Connor: Well bro, i was thinking more timberwolf colors for him initially, greys, browns, black...sort of thing..and when the blue hit...it read to me a sort of sinister vibe, so i just went with it. Now Brendan(bwkeough) and mikel gave me a ton of advice at sketch group on how to change correct and I might revisit him somewhere down the line, but for now..i have to let it go. Thanks for the kindness man. Your's is another book i have to get back to looky looking at. Cheers!
Flasker!: Ahh you made it back...great to see you posting once again.
Haha...you want sketchpages eh? Man..i wish i worked that quickly, but alas i have to retreat to my sinister holiday workshop and crank out some holiday cheer. Just as soon as that's done trust me...i'll be back in the saddle. Best to you.
So as a general note..I think this is a good place to leave off and say goodbye to this first SB. Consider this the notice of shutdown.
To my fellow EMW crew homies..i will send around PM's just as soon as the next book is up.
Also I want to thank once again all of those people that have taken a look at this nasty bit of sb foolery, you don't know how much it has meant to not only read your comments but to also gain some insight into this vast world of art via your wise words. Best to you all.
Aha. this book is closed, well, it inspires me even more to write in it... I saw your book before and liked it... You have some issues with my comments, you like them very much or dislike them very much... all this is a great motivation to write to you. In tensai sketch book there is a tutorial how to transfer drawing or text from a paper to any other object. You can print my silly comment and stamp in on your forehead, for long and pleasant memories.
You remind me my friend codekromek, we started in the same way, pulling each other hair out. in a comic way of course, but nevertheless annoying each other like two bored fleas... You have something from his energy too, in your comments and art. Sort of crazy energy, careless attitude and lack of ego... I compare you to flea not randomly .
To the art....
I like that despite very smooth confident ink drawing yours have a lot of things that separate them from other artists work, some little hardly noticed irregularities, marks, sudden whims of the pen... It allows me to see farther than polished even sketch, it catches my eye and makes me look longer than if it was smooth impeccable like mirror surface image.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...5&d=1158534581 Strictly speaking this picture is overloaded, with textures and action and extremely active border. But I like it... it's very active in communication. and actually it is your bright feature, your drawing and paintings too are very active and charming. you are not afraid to pour your personality in it and go crazy and overboard in it. I prefer this way to any smooth "pro-like" image.
Oh, this drawing just screams, and grabs my eyes and collar and hair, keeping me near... I like it, it is very flattering.... . Motion is wonderful and energy, the composition is very well balanced though, both sides of the painting have similar weight and it evens up everything, kind of keeps it at border.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...7&d=1158705974 Proportions are funny, from knee down he has some other person legs, torso is too long, the shoulder from my right is wrong, in my opinion, too narrow, should be a bit higher and fuller, but he is sure full of personality. Face is drawn with hesitation, and it is a bit distracting...
You are probably going to end up being a concept artist or designer... looks like trying your best in this direction. I see more in your artwork though, it looks very personal, I would suggest to you to try more to become a mood catcher, fine artist, I think it is one of your charm .. yeah, obnoxious flea can have charm too .
Your paintings, you can do a lot of effective tricks in them. But I think you are afraid of colors and don't really feel how color can talk, your colors choice are rough, random and straightforward, lacking sophistication which is on a contrary very prominent in your sketches... Darkness in you painting looks like a lack of confidence too....
Overall it is very strong art presentation, it deserve its 5 stars for sure...
I like this one, very elegant, I don't care if it is after some other artist, it is wonderful, the painting lost the individual features pretty much though... very often thing in your artwork.
So, still want to have a book with my comments? told you. it is not worthy the paper...

Ok...the final...final post...(I think)
B: The pms are sent and good to see that you found it...now I just have to respond to all the fine peeps that made it there too.
Sve: You silly wonderfully lovely woman you! I don't have any problems with your comments at all. If you are referring to how I summed up your response on Mike Duttons thread if anything it was good natured teasing and not meant as malicious on any level. I always wondered how you read such intimate details from seemingly very small or unobtrusive parts of a persons image. I think that speaks volumes in terms of your wisdom and eye for people's work.
Trust me when I say that I read your crits and comments fully on whomevers thread and walk away with more of a complete picture on how you view people's art. To me you not only look at the construction of the piece but are very influenced by the emotion of it as well. That sort of feedback is invaluble. I think everybody wants to know how the piece resonates or for that matter doesnt resonate with a viewer. And you have this incredible way of framing a response that goes beyond the standard, ooh i like, or meh...i don't like this. For that you should be applauded.
As for being a flea...ok..i accept that. I have a tendency while working on a piece as not being methodical..it's jump to one place..find something somewhere else then go there and work. I would say it's not a unique malady..but i have it.
I won't respond point by point over your review of individual pieces...or this could stretch far beyond the limits of this page. Suffice it to say though that I see each and every one of your points and agree in terms of what needs work and has to be improved. As for the darkness...you hit the nail on the head..i do use it as a crutch and need to push my range of values higher.
And as for colors...spot on again in your analysis. It is the bane of my existence and dread it like the plague.
As i've told people time and again..i don't feel worthy of five stars...though i appreciate most sincerely your kindness.
And just to let you know...yep I would still want a book with all your commentary in it. You put alot of yourself in each of those posts and
have really become an integral part of CA.
Best to you and thank you again.
Ok..and for anyone who finds themselves here reading this..there is
another sb im working on...you can find it here. If you would grace me with a note from you, it would make my day. Cheers!
