Nice stuff, i really like your pose studies, very nice and very fluid, believable and dynamic. For the most part your anatomy seems good, but there are a few issues on some of the pieces, so double check or use a reference. The major thing I see on the larger drawings is that your anatomy is falling off the center line, for example, the abdomen is falling off the center line of the chest and the neck. It's happening in a few of the pieces, not all of them. You got some nice designs as well. Keep up the good work.
†Thanks for commenting in my SB
†Phenomenal drawings! really loving the gestures, really feel the motion in some of the poses, wicked looking creatures! Keep up the great work

hmm I'm liking the guestures and creatures and muscles. I can't ever remember which muscle goes where. You've got some good stuff here!
Sketchbook group! Omi-kun
@Smitherines: thanks!yeah i see what you mean about the center line...still got some problems with anatomy...
@Darklord101:no problem!now i see how this whole SB business work... about the gesture, guess motion and dynamism was what i was looking for!...i love wicked looking creatures!
@Omi-kun:thanks! well, about muscle location...lol, actually i don't know them either i don't normaly do drawings with reference, althought i know i should...it just..."comes naturally"
thx again everyone...hope i'll be able to post soon again!
Crazy stuff man!
I like your creativity, especially in your recent character designs.
You should give them more value and more shadows, that would really make them stand out!.
Thanks for your nice comment and tips, think im gonna speedpaint enviro's soon.
Perhaps your right that my nickname is wrong, but that kinda makes it ironic hehe
now let's see.Since you mentioned all the various problems in anatomy, i guess i should start getting something serious done (dunno how much this will last though ).Got some cool tuts, gnomon stuff, hogart and lomis and Vilppu books, so in the next weeks i'll try to do some serious studies too.Just started with some noses (don't really wanna go back to total basics again, i gotta fill some "leaks" first)
hmmm im not sure if its from reference our your mind insisting on seeing most of that guy's left eye, but i think at that angle, its either he has a really small nose or you've shrunk it so that you can draw more of that left eye in. great studies man and great creature concepts! I think those studies will really refine your design sense! Lets see more!
thanks for the comments btw!
Hummm really not bad! I think you could make really great works! Probably this sketchbook is a little too much rough, try to put more time to details and to finish some sketch, maybe to use a "Gum-pencil" (I am not sure of the english name) can help you.
Your concepts and ideas are very interesting, but all them seem to be like unfinished... well, I know that it's a sketchbook and not a finished section, but I think that you could improve your skill more. Naturally you could add other subjects to your sketchbook: real life sketchs, buildings, vehicles, environments and so on.
I liked much the one with all noses... you could it something so with hands too!
Well... continue to post, guy!
PS: Io sto praticamente esportando la pasta qui, non saro' perfetto come cuoco pero' mi difendo! ahahahahahah ciao, Modenese!
@thegreypencil: mmm you're damn right about that nose and eye, but i'm already hating that head enought, i'm sure i can do better thx for the comments.About the studies, i hope they help, that's the whole point!
i know what you mean about the "unfinished" look, other people on this and other forums already mentioned this...guess you love it or hate it
anyway i already have the tool you mentioned , that kind of pencil-shaped-eraser, don't know the english name either
I don't actually have much time to finish anything, the most "finished drawing" you can see here is the one n post 96 (thas how "clean" i can get )
i'll try to vary the subjects sometimes
Yeppers, Bob rocks! Goota love the anchor tat.
Really nice concepts here man, I really like teh ginat near teh top of this page. I think the samurai character would look better standing in a horse stance or leaning the other way to make the piece more dynamic.
Hey, I like the creativity going on here. Big improvement over the last page, the more recent poses feel a lot more natural. Your faces need work though, a lot of common problems rearing their ugly heads... eyes and lips are lacking volume and falling flat. Loomis can help with this... and try to do some portraits from life (not photos if possible). That nose study is going in the right direction, can feel some volume there. Keep it up! -John
dude. if you keep trying to show that eye that should be obscured at least partially by the bridge of the nose on a caucasian type male in a 3/4 going onto side profile view...*breathe* am going to have to poke your eye out with this nerf missle and i will try and try till i get it like a kebab
like the rock creature mm hmm!
Great stuff Gnoll, really diggin' your creatures. Keep postin', this SB is coming along nicely!
nothing new at the moment (easter holidays finished damn it), but i'll reply to you guys now...
@Matt Smith:thanks, i'll keep practicing don't worry
@John T:thanks, yeah, i still have a lot of problems with drawing some bloody decent heads...
@thegreypencil:buuuuhuhu you're mean, aren't ya? damn i'll try some more damn heads then, now i see the problems...thx anyway
@Dile:yeah! dunno what happened, but i'm happy to get some replies at last...guess the trick is keeping the thread up and posting in other people SB
@jereus:thanks, no way i'm gonna quit posting!
hope i have something interesting to post by tonight...
The newest gestures and the fish are great. Teh fish especially, since it's a walking fish.
I really like the wacom one though, because it's so much different than a lot of other stuff that you did.
I recommend finishing it.
My Sketchbook << Critique me!
great figures. one thing to note, in those action poses like running or in the hand stand, you might want to highlight more the flexible quality of the abdomen region, right no it looks as solid and stiff as the rib cage and pelvis. some proportional problems as well..small ones at least. do more of em and more studies from ref and life and those errors will go away.
ill second the request to finish that digital piece, its looking good
about that fish, great concept lol but you might wanna check out the wonky perspective the placement of the legs are suggesting. the leg in the foreground, is placed too low and it suggests that the ground is sloping towards the viewer much more than the body of the fish suggests. unless of course the legs are meant to be of different lengths.
thx Zacharias for the kind words...
and thanks to thegreypencil too, i love constructive critics, they help a lot about the gestures, yeah, i'll do more...about the abs region and sort, i hope i find hogart stuff, and some decent anatomy book (one i can actually touch)
about the walking fish monster, i don't think i'll work on it, but thx for the comments, my first hyper wuick DSG (5 minutes).I see what you mean about the legs and perspective.
About the digital thing...err...too late, i didn't save it cause i thought it was crap...guess i'll have to start another one
Hi TheGnoll! I've looked at your 2 pages, it's a nice sketchbook, with some really good concept ( the abomination and the walking fish are awesome). I've seen a somehow strong improvement in the 2nd half of this last page, have you start some drawing class or something similar?
I'll keep my eyes on this thread, keep up your work!
Hey Gnoll, great stuff in here! Really like the creature and quick thumbnail sketches. You've got lots of talent! Thanx for the eyecandy and keep em comin bro.
P.S. To answer your question, I learned about upside drawing from the book "Drawing on the right side of the brain" by Betty Edwards. Hope this helps.

good, I like specially the fish monster. Good work! Continue to draw! My opinion to make more "finished" the sketches is still valid! ahahahah but... I like also your studies about wacom color!
