A few people have made a Pixar connection, I quess it's a similar period.
My initial idea was to draw some character sketches for a comic idea sending-up the fifties/sixities British comic book hero Dan Dare. After struggling for a while with pencil and paper I thought they'd make a good subject for sculpey.
I don't know whether I will ever finish the pitch but here is Colonel Dashiel 'Dash ' Douglas (Rtd), first gentleman of space, pipe smoker of the year 1950 and first class scoundrel!
Thanks for the kind words, these have been fun to work on.
I must admit that I am still totally unresolved on how to do hair. On each one I've done it's a bit different. I'm not sure whether indiviual strands or just blocking out a general shape is the best approach.
Andy Bergholtz does fantastic precise hair but I don't think I have the patience for that: http://www.absculpture.com/
Another problem I have had with the beige sculpey is photographing it. These have just been smoothed with my fingers rather than with an alcohol but they still appear grainy in the photos! I think it might be it's translucent quality.
