Hello I'm tartancrow, I'm 14 and I started GCSE art last year. I really want to improve so maybe I can go on to do something art-related when I finish education. Any comments, critique advice etc. you can leave for me is very much appreciated (: Thank you for visiting!

Some stuff I did for art class, the still life & shells are from last year. Sorry the files are so big X(
just a couple of things I gave up on the apple after it got moved, it's unfinished.. but this is a sketch book right? also tried drawing some humans and pose maniac, I want to do more stuff like that.
I'm still shocked when I find artists as young as you who are mature enough to suck in their pride and come to a site like this.
You're much better than I was at your age, so you're off to a better start than me.
Right right, crit wise- I don't really have much to say, just keep on drawing everything around you. Bring a sketchbook with you all the time and sneak draw friends during breaks like a creeper- things like that will help you improve fast when you combine them with your usual studies.
Good start little miss, so hope you keep up the good work!
Naidy - thank you so much! haha I'll be sure to try that, I need to buy a new sketchbook thanks again!
A self portrait that looks nothing like original photo and well, an eye.. DX I had more to post but I can't use the scanner atm

haven't posted in a while, i've been busy since it's a holiday but I started another digital drawing (I'm not sure if I'll finish it)
hey guys sorry for disappearing, I've had a lot to do lately and I didn't have the motivation to update my sketchbook here... but hopefully I will get back in the swing of things and update even more regularly than I did before! thank you for the comments and critique, I really appreciate the support and please continue to help me improve! (: thank you.
anyway, I've started to use my phone instead of the scanner I was previously using for traditional uploads. so combine rubbish quality camera + extremely resized images = not too good quality uploads X: kind of lost my way on the last two paintings...
Hey, nice to see you're still doing some nice stuff.
Studies are looking good, though I'd say the mouth isn't wide enough on your study of the lad on your last post. Just keep checking proportions, the rendering looks good though, so keep up the good work!
Naidy thanks! I've downloaded some books that should help me with proportions, I'll post some studies soon (:
I should start focusing studies on one thing.. I started drawing stuff around me then my characters then decided to do some anatomy.. and they're all pretty awful fml. the last upload is a redo of my original first attachment - the first done in february and the second in march. I wanted to make the hair look more realistic but obviously I still need more practice B:<
hey! been busy with school lately, haven't really managed to draw much ): few studies and another unfinished painting hurr
Heeyy, isn't that one of the Jedward twins with his hair down? Good taste is reffs. ;P
The mouth's looking good on that one too! You're off to a brilliant start, mate.
Now lets see, lets see.
The last figures you did are looking really good. I'm glad you're still squeezing art in, I've been having trouble fitting art in with school/revision too so I can sympathise.
Rambling aside, I think you're doing great. Hope to see more soon!
Naidy - yeah it is! I love them :'D oh man, it's been hard to find the time for art lately. It seems like when I'm not having an exam I'm busy revising for it, but with an attention span like mine it's really hard to stay focused on one thing ): thank you! good luck with your exams/revision or whatever (:
Nothing special to post today really.. I would of had more but I'm exhausted from this week already (and it's only tuesday lol) ughhh
Ah, I have a bad time focusing myself, only it's trying to do anything but art. I started posted on CA during my exam leave. xD
I'd say for someone so busy your art is still looking good, some nice linework in there and I'm liking the eyes.
Anyways, wish you the best of luck on your exams, you strike me as a hard worker so I'm sure you'll do fine.
Keep up the good work, mate!
Naidy - thank you! < 3
some figure studies kinda. Hopefully next week I will be posting more, I'm off school /fistpump
I'm always impressed by people as you who start a sketchbook like this with 14. If you keep it up and go on with studies, you will be very good in a few years.
there are some nice things here already. I like the eyes, you will get the right shapes with a bit more practising =)
If you do figure drawings, try to focus more on the gestures and overall structures
Valyavande - thanks for the advice, I'll try to do that, like concentrate on the overall form of the body.
heyy guys, sorry for the absence, I thought I'd have updated more over the past weeks but I didn't have much time. kind of misplaced a lot of the paper I drew on so.. I can't put it in here :L should I start posting more sketches (the ones that look even worse than the 'neat' stuff I usually post)? or is it quality over quantity? thanks for the comments please keep them coming peace out
You have quite the ambition and skill for someone as young as yourself! Keep it up!
Very nice start to your sketch book. Alot of good studies in here. One thing I might suggest is in regards to your figures. Constructing them out of simple shapes and lines first before focusing in on outside lines is generally the best route. It gives them more of a solid foundation and personally I feel it helps me keep things in proportion. I see you doing this a little here and there but it couldn't hurt to do it more often.
"This is a paint and pixel-splattered furnace that forges the swords of artistic mastery. This is a place where swarthy and belligerent dwarves drink turpentine mead, berate their apprentices and slap the trade into their skulls. It's where the anvils are made of graphite, the hammers are as true as rectangular marquee selections and the fires burn with the light of a thousand lensflares." --Jason Rainville
What a great start and wow, I feel old and late right now.
And I suggest the same as Wooden Mango, try to construct the figures using simple shapes first, this makes things a lot easier.
You'll be awesome, keep it up!
Featheredface - thank you! :]
wooden mango hey, I do that usually, but when I post stuff here I usually erase the shapes inside but yeah, I will do that more in future :] thanks for your advice, I will be sure to use it!
Dalibor Dejanović hey thanks!
ChisLu don't feel that way, keep at it we can progress together! thank you I will do my best!
so it was my birthday on the 17th, I had a pretty nice day. thanks for the comments, they make me happy when I see people have visited, I hope I'm still here and improving next year when I'm 16! :]
heyy guys :] can't update with much right now, I will post some more studies tommorow.
I drew a fruit bowl in SAI yesterday, it doesn't look anything like the original though, I got discouraged and stopped (like I do will the majority of my digital paintings, if you look through my sketchbook you'll see)
can anybody give me any critique to point me in the right direction? or a tutorial? I see a lot of people say 'block in the colours first' but when I do that it still looks crappy the apple is totally wrong and it looks like jelly instead of a solid form /: yeah I'd really appreciate that and I'll be back tommorow to post more. thanks for visiting.
welp these sketches are pretty sloppy but I said I'd post more today so here I am
arhghh i'm so tirredddd
