This forum is awesome. There are some great work here. I am a big fan of MainLoop's work. Awesome drawings!
My first post here. Just got back into figure drawing this year. Here are some recent drawings.
If I were to write anything I would pretty much reapeat Josef's words. So drawings it is.
These are mostly fives and fours. One 20 in the bunch.
there is no penis stroking in this one
Im really diging the light on this one
even tho you are scraching your lines a little bit,
try not going on the same line more than once,
or twice, other than that Im really likeing this.
Here are some drawings from the Montreal workshop.
Hi everyone!, this would be my first post on ConceptArt.org. Here is a drawing I did last year in a life drawing class I had at SCAD.
Hello all! A recent life drawing of mine.
Everyone is posting some really excellent work in this thread.
I've done a nude sketch of my friend before. However, it is still exciting to peep into some other artist's work of art!
You are not yet done until los angeles graphic design finishes it.
Here's some work I've been doing lately. I love seeing everyone's work. Inspiring me to go to life drawing weekly.
hey malachi, where do you go do life drawing at??
It's good to see how everyone approaches it so differently. I try to balance gesture and rendering.
This is a great thread and all the work I see here, has kicked me in the gut. I see the amount of study and time put into the drawings and there is no excuse for my slacking on deeper study. My older work is better than my newest. I guess when one is learning new information, sigh, sometimes the old knowledge suffers as the new info is absorbed and mental adjustments are made.......I am inspired by this thread to join in AND step up my study. My thanks to all for posting their work here and for the encourageing advice and critiques.
Will definately stay tuned to this thread.
Photobucket dumped my first images. Pendejos!

NIce stuff, AztcFireFlower!
I'm trying to capture the gracelines, weigth and structure. I haven't been working on shading as much.
cool thread....here are some of mine but some are not nude
i think 20-30 min
last term stuff
do these count as figure drawings? it's not really traditional....most of these ink ones are 5-10 min....maybe 1 or 2 20s
amazing stuff guys!!
I hope it's ok to throw my 3 week poses in here?
it's SO nice to have that much time..
JoshK: those 30sec look amazing :o
malachi: very interesting stuff, gotta take a closer look at what you're doing there! I also would very much appreciate if you could say a couple words about what you are thinking when you're drawing, what exactly you are focusing on and emphasizing?
Gloominati: I like that clean style, feels solid!
AztcFireFlower: dig your stuff man!
Main Loop: thanks for the glen orbik link! not much need to say anything about your work..
Simon Gustafsson: I love that reclining man, great work!
Beautiful pencil work!
I like 1459. I'm a leg person and when I see a well done lower body, I'm totally impressed. Good job! And 1482, the whole drawing is niiiice. I especially like the treatment of the head in perspective.
How many hours at each session or day?
My first real drawing teacher was Glen Orbik. I studied under him for a little over 2 years. My entire foundation for approaching a drawing was instilled in me by him. So glad I had the opportunity to learn from one of the best illustrators in the country. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, too!
Model had some great hands and feet so I took a little time to study them. Also included a head of some guy I sketched down at the local coffee shop.
Dorian: I'm trying to capture the gracelines then I break the model down into basic blocks and cylinders and then I try to add a basic skeleton landmarks. Then I think about muscles but I try to think about the masses as 3d shapes which I loosely block in. From there I try to model the form and give the muscles the right weight. I wish I could explain it better than this Hope that helps.
I also like to practice sketching with a ball point pen or technical pen. Helps me get over the fear of messing up. I recommend trying it for fun if anything.
WTH! Now FileDen jacked up my images! Can anyone, please, recommend a host site that dosn't interfere wth images?
This work is amazing-from everyone! I wish i could get into some kind of life drawing class! Some time.
keep up this great stuff!
