Count me in Gagginhoover, plus one verbally-abusive, yet strangely hospitable wife, and her smaller, updated, male, and just as foul-mouthed beta-release version.
Guggengassenstaffer: You will be missed, man...However, we also know that you're off taking part in one of those rare opportunities and that you'll probably be sucking back pints of maple syrup in no time flat...As they say, the art is long and the life is short - enjoy!
Fingerless: I'm actually involving myself in several personal projects over the next week and have already been scolded for the number of curious constructions that I'm presently in the process of erecting...I've spread from the office out into the kitchen and you can bet that I'm catching all sorts of hell from the cruel mistress that tugs at my leash...If you guys meet up, it most likely will be sans A-Doll...
Artifex Abbey: I'm onto that thing you mentioned: 11.5% and counting...
To the rest of you lot: I hope your creations are rich, your mind ever expanding, and your nights filled with terrific dreams of other worlds...
This thread is getting lonely, especially with Gugg not making every other post. Do you guys want to meet up some time next week? Any day is good for me since my break will start by then.
Sorry...no silly quips right now...maybe later if you behave yourselves
Dunno, nofingers. I'm gonna be gone a lot from the family over the next week or so, but I might be able to make it somewhere close. I'll wait for you to get a day and place set up before I commit. My schedule is going to be in major flux.
That's the best part of that song. You know, the dwarves are calling out for the rest of their crew to get ready to start locking the flow wee-man style (big beats, y'all!). Oh, you know what I'm talking about. When you come rolling up on the Black Forest Mafia, you don't get the "wup wup" - you get the "Heigh-hoooo!"
And keep your eyes on Dopey. It's the ones that don't have anything to say that are the first to knick you with their hobo knives...I don't trust anyone who's ears are larger then the rest of his head...Or droolers... I just want to say, "Get a frickin' bib, man..."
Got some chat time in last night with Flash Guggengordon - sounds like he's already putting the mayonnaise on his french fries...I hear he'll be representin' The ATL by hosting The Workshop's first eva' CATL Down Home Country Gravy Pig Wrassle...Sadly, he was not able to get the hog passed security at the airport (I told him they don't allow curly-tailed carry-ons)...So, who knows how that's going to fair...
In other news, I had "lunch with Loomis" yesterday and can finally report that I've made a bit of a leap. I used to say that my graphite skills had atrophied to the level of 8th art class...Now, I'm finally somwhere between 10th and 11th grade...Geezus, I've got catching up to do...
Yours with pencil in hand,

Today's weather: 10% chance of rain, and a 99.9% chance of a scriptographic ejaculation by AD.
I just picked myself up a new anatomic tome, myself, so watch your back. I'll be aiming high to cap you over your half-height dwarven drive-by crew.
Speaking of scriptographic ejaculation - if you've got two eyes in your head and learned to read letters, moneyshots for everyone!Originally Posted by Artifex33...a 99.9% chance of a scriptographic ejaculation by AD.

Good for you, man! Loomis is a very different perspective than most people writing figure drawing stuff today. i've learned a ton from him.Originally Posted by AnalogDollSpeaking of scriptographic ejaculation - if you've got two eyes in your head and learned to read letters, moneyshots for everyone!

=D and yes... the mini-CATL junk was fun =)
Aw, yeah - dropping in on the zoo 30-deep style. I can already see it in my head:
Every few yards or so, some artiste passed out from or in the throes of dehydration....half-sketched reptilians lined across the page...the cries of Guggen-eh?-Canadian lifted over the ape pens like a saxon battlecry:
"Leave the dead...Keep sketching!"
Good times to come.
Triple-H: Glad to see you rawking the boards. Looking forward to what your time off has helped you produce.
Fae (seelie or unseelie?): "She's like a ghost, y'all!" Hope your time away has been productive as well and that you've got some inspiring work to drop on us.
NoFingersJustStumps: According to my Miss Molly Pratchett's Guide to Bringing Your Girlfriend/Boyfriend/"We're just friends (until I find the right time to tell her/him I love her/him and present her/him with this gift I made out of my own body hair) To The Zoo, you will be required to take one of these necessary steps to insure that your significant other has an enjoyable time:
1) Purchase a plastic-injected scultpure of some animal, which you will later steal from her claiming you "needed it for an animal anatomy lesson" when really you just thought it was too cool for her...
2) Purchase two flattened and stamped pennies from the penny flattening and stamping machine, which will be seen as a thoughtful gesture, but a waste of two pennies...and four dollars...
3) Continue to forcefeed your date flavored-ice drinks until she passes out from the rush of cold to her Prefrontal Cortex, providing you the opportunity to sketch, unimpeded, until she finally stirs hours later...at which point you will confess that she was struck by "some loose critter" and was only spared a messy fall due to your quick reflexes, which you will openly attribute to your careful study of the X-men comic book series...
Personally, I will be hiding in the darker parts of the park, as I've received intel that reports Wes-Master-Fex has been secretly conditioning his son to remove key members of our organization in the hopes of starting his own rival sketch group: The Legion of Wes...I for one know it's best not to be taken alive...That boy is not afraid to recite the complete Pokemon roster from heart..."My ears! I'm bleeding from the ears! Call him off, Wes!"
AsthmaticDinosaur: I'm not sure you're advice applies to me or my significant other, as she in an artist herself, and she will also be down for hot sketch action, so I'm not too worried about her being bored. But I appreciate your concern, and I am sadened at not hearing the whole pokemon spiel
EDIT: Hey Seansea, good luck in Cali

I'm moving back to Cali this upcoming weekend. Some promising opportunites came up that I just can't pass up. It was great hangin out/sketchin' with you all. It'll be a hot minute before any posts come up to since I will be sans computer for a while. You guys have been great and I'll be a CATL member in spirit.
old sketchbook... new sketchbook...under construction
Fingerless: I was unaware that your lady friend was an artist...Hell, you'll be fine then...just long as you don't fall prey to the pokemon...
Seansea: Wha? Going back to Cali (Cali...Cali...)? Hey, man - it's been a blast...Good luck and keep us posted on what new endeavors you find yourself mixed up in...
No worries on the pokemon recital. My son's much more likely to regale you with tales of his exploits on the Spanish Main back in his buccaneering days. He's been going around the house with a cloth bag full of loose change saying, "AAAAARGGH!"
Oh, man. What is it about a mid-day nap that causes you to wake in a stupor that resembles the results of a bar fight gone wrong. You know the one. That time you let that bottle of Grey Goose do the talking for you and you couldn't believe that the words coming out of your mouth resembled the same misaligned banter of a professional wrestler...The kind of talk that seems to attract every bumble-eff jackhole who just so happens to be looking to impress the ladies with "what I learned off my new Bas Rutten DVD!"
Keep everything simple, don't try anything crazy and all your strikes must be hard! NOTHING WEAK, no jabs or weak attacks. - Bas Rutten
Yeah, that kind of scary stupor...Anyone have any scientific evidence that points to why?
G-Grack: It's best to keep your eyes on that guy. I've heard rumors that his earthbound sketchbook contains secret sonnets and he's got some animal magnetism thing working for him. I remember walking back from the Civic Center, Fingerless. Don't you deny it. Those girls almost drove off the overpass trying to get across the road to you. You need to tone down your "Van Damme" before someone gets killed.
HHH/Fae: Good choices for your sketchjam (the faces/RPG classes). I think we'll have to cannibalize those into our standard repitore (with credit given where credit is due, of course).
Where the 'ell is the Guggs? I know he rolled up to Can-ah-di-ah with his portfolio, but do you think he landed a job right then and there? Did he say, "Yes!" to the big paycheck and limitless artistic freedom? Or, did his plane crash somewhere in the Andes Mountains and he's right now consuming the pages of his moleskine sketchbook to sustain himself while sketching Rembrandt-inspired works on the backs of the dead? Do you think he hopped a ride with Chauncey and is now rawking it LA-style?
I'm starting the countdown. I don't hear anything by Friday, I'm dropping in on his digs (customary bottle of vino in-tow).
I got dibs on Gugg's freezer full of human torsos.....some are still pretty fresh. He better throw his stuff up on the site soon, cuz we all know he has some sweet stuff.
The reason that the ladies love the earthbound, is that whilst on my travels in Uraguay, I happened upon a small village under the rule of witchdoctors. I gave the chief a half-eaten Snickers, and in return, he put a spell of my sketchbook which caused all the ladies to quiver with glee upon seeing it. I no longer have control over its power, so I apologize to you dear ladies. There is an on/off switch on the back labeled "Make Ladies Quiver," but I dont know what it does, so I just hot glued it in the on position.
Analog: Dude, W..T..F is your new Avatar? I think I'm gonna retch.
Yeah, where's guggleplex (defined: the number of 30-year-old sheets of notebook paper in gugg's collection)?
[Edit]: NoFs: I totally misread "human torsos" as "human tacos" - did not phase me one bit...Nobody makes Salsa de Humano like Senor Guggenista...
Artifextastic: Last night, while listening to "DNA AM" from Combichrist and letting my mind work up some new "costuming," I decided that our buddy "Abdominal Head" needed a switch-out. So, I found myself a picture from Keita Amemiya's film Zeiram (personally Zeiram II is my fav of the two)...The main villain, Zeiram, has this sick hat with a curious, Kabuki-like face in the center...which, when provoked, comes alive and strikes snake-like out of his head...If you're not familiar with Amemiya's designs, I recommend checking them out. Stay away from the anime version - it was not up to snuff...
Fingerless: I knew there was something up with your sketchbook...I'll make sure I have my shots before I go exploring in it again...Wouldn't want to contract some necrotizing bacteria from the pages...Damn crazy witchdoktors...Unclean! Unclean!

I'm SOL for doing anything over the next few days. My vacation time has come to a close and I return to the 9-5 in the AM (I'm already dreading what fires I'll have to start my day putting out). I've got family stuff this weekend, which will eat into a lot of my available freetime, so I'd best just throw in the towel for this week.
Next week is solid for me. Anytime, anyplace.
(does anyone else have font changes on the site now???)
I've just gotten back from montreal and am in the process of preparing a report for you guys and every one else. for those of you whom I've distributed vintage notebook paper to, KNOW! that the notebook paper project was received with great enthusiasm and i now have some 40 drawings to SCANE...all amazing in their own way...
Holy crap our big CATL zoodaytrip is sploding up! Hope you can make it out fae! damn we're going to kick some drawing BUTT!
Unfortunately i'm not available to make awkward passes at CATL sketchgroup members until next week teehee i will write more later once i use my "decoder Guggles" to try and figure out what all has been said, eh?
and i've Got to go back and read all the mutilated versions of my username-maneuver. maybe i'll start a list of them
it's a bummer that we're not going to be able to do anything for chauncey's going away...Actually AD and I tried unsuccessfully to throw something together for tonight, but it wasn't in the Deck of CATL cards bummer bummer—> If any of you guys are willing to get together on friday or saturday SANS GUGG[/b], you should organize and figure something out---> I won't be able to attend because i'm attending some wedding festivities with "baby gun." Maybe i'll catch the garter and put it on the komodo dragoooon at the zoo.
cheers and jeers folks i'm working on an update for you with hearts
