I finally got a tablet of my own. Here are a couple of my sketches. I'd love to get some crits from all you artists here.
This is a pic of a soccer player (in case you can't tell.... ) I actually traced the outline from the image because I really wanted to try the shadows on the white shirt and stuff. I took out the outlines for the final.
Top left: original pic Top Right: Painted pic
big pic: painted with curves for more contrast
And here are a few random sketches, nothing major:
here's another. a cartoony monster. he's a bit apprehensive about that pool.
judging by the fingers (his right hand seems really thin then building with life) vs his left hand which seems kinda plump.
the lighting is defiantly going to need some work- I did a few drawings like this and the best way to get the correct glowing light is to take one of those glow sticks and take a pic of you in the dark. Using reference pics is the best way to get used to shadows/lighting etc. or even taking a mold of clay and warping it – and then studying the lighting on it.
thanks for the tip about the lighting.
here are a couple new sketches.
I know the guy's arm is really funky, but I like the rest anyway.
