OMG, dude, this is erm...sick shit!
Great update, hands have a lot more structure now, try doing one or two fully rendered ones next!
The self portrait looks good, has great potential, I'd like it if you'd go back to it and tighten it up further! Smooth out the hatching, balance the values, and it'd be a strong piece!
Good work Pixel. I just went through the whole thread and you have shown very good improvement. Your stuff is definately much much better then a year ago. (Hope that doesn't sound bad) With the way you are going you can definately make it in the CA program here and probably anywhere else. Keep the drawings coming and don't slack off. If you want that Presiden't scholarship you still need to improve a lot more, but it is doable. You have time and it appears you have the determination. Draw and paint day and night. You can sleep when your dead.
Damn straight Hett. Thanks for droppin' by. time to draw!
this looking nice! you can really see some progress going on=)
Really nice studies, and i can't believe your one year younger than me, and you draw as if you were 5 years older.
Just keep em coming, your doing good.

Great stuff man, huge progress since ur first post.. if u want any crits.. here's ne for your last posted muscle studie: The upperarm-muscles are a bit to small at the right side..
Your hand-studies rock man!
Holy crap pixel Dragon all the hand studies are SMOKIN!
What was the reason why you didn't like this portrait:
IMO the slight rendering that you are doing on some of the hand studies takes them so much farther than if they were only composed of lines. keep up the great work! -joel
oh for goodness sake would you stop it!
I didn't like the SP because the eyes are too big. I think of Android for my motivation when doing them, I try to get things right. Just because it looks like me, but not the way I wanted it too... I dunno, something'.
Thanks for the comments:
@Blog: NO WAY FAG
Hey man, great progression. I can really see the difference from page one to current - not counting the contour sketches as they all tend to look the same regardless who does em. Keep it going man. BTW do you live in Sarasota or somewhere else in FL. I just moved to Bradenton which is basically Sarasota. Take care
Hey good job on the studies! On the side by side box studies, it's REALLY important that the squares are perfectly straight, use a ruler if you can't get the lines that straight. Also, try using a piece of thread to check the points of shapes to see if they're the correct distance from the centerline. Keep it up!
Thanks, I was wonderin' how you did that.
Hey awesome sketchbook, just bought vanderpoels book the other day, its pretty rad.. no crits from me, as im pretty new to this whole thing : p
Awesome job with the hands especially. Are you at ringling by chance?
The last self portrait and the sleeping guy in the last post are great! Youve really developed some strong linework! Generally, when Im drawing people like that, I dont care if they move, I just redraw the parts that changed, sometimes captures the movement smoothly, sometimes its just messy.
Crit-wise I'd say you should keep pushing the self portraits and try to fully render them, including the hair shirt and background. Also, watch the direction of your hatching, hatching in limited directions can actually flatten the image if not done correctly, its more effective to try and hatch along the form (look at artists like Steak-tron for examples of than) when rendering.
I wish I were at RIngling. I can't apply until 08. I'm going to portfolio day the 29th though. I have acne and long dirty blonde hair, shouldn't be too hard to spot.
You guys ain't motivating me to post... I'll have some stuff up soon.
Bleah! Why does everyone draw hands better than me?
But seriously, the hands are looking nice and dynamic.
Head studies look good, there are some issues with proportion, such as eye placement so pay attention to though.
So whatever happened to that Thunderdome entry you were working on?
Eh heh.... hee.... AHEM
Thanks for the head thing, I gotta work on that. Those were from bridgman. I need a model, seriously, I think it'd help me big time. I can't draw good from photos.
Hey, digging the skully pic, got an interesting narrative going on, you should polish it up.
On the head page, the bottom right one looks great, was it from life?
Man, I wish I could send you workshop money, but my own funds for it are tight as it is.
