lovely crazy colors on this last one, and i like the textures. what's next?
hows it goin? got housewarming presents for you; sorry they took so long...
@Farvus: Np mate, I love you too I got mad sick this weekend so I was too unconcious to finish that painting in time, but I think I'll render it up for the folio.
@Tetsuo: Wow man, cool to have you back! You and Aaron go drink a beer for me!
@Rockhart: Thanks But this is hypotetically speaking, right? You didn't relly quit drawing?
@ lithiumdawn: I will, thanks.
@Tugelbend: WTH man, your understanding of colour has much more foundation than mine! While I dwell around theroy n shit you've already made colorjobs like a spraypainting robot!
@mentler: Mentler @_@ I'll never wash my monitor again lol And thanks for your permission to print some stuff out fore me, I'll put it to good use!
@PlasmaErnst: Aba imma, alta! Pass auf, dass nich im Schwarzwald vom Hügel kullerst löl!
@purb36: Woah thanks so much! That Portrait kicks all kinds of ass, it brings the wild-boar side out of me japanese style! (My chinese sign is pig )
So roughly estimated I spend around 10 hours drawing today in which I got so crushed it's ridiculous. I normally start my day going to the library taking books to draw (Today I studied some Bammes, he's sorted between the "Draw mangastyle" book and "Chibi-portraits for dunmmies"). After that regular asskicking in the academy. The exercises where so hard and everybody is so fucking talented around here, most of the guys in my class are already artists in their 40s and 50s getting to all the basics again and then you have those crazy prodigees making everybody look like slugscum. We did composition-exercizes and castdrawing and the instructors told me to do stuff I never even heard of before, lol! I had to draw in charcoal for the first time, too, Fricking hard medium! Gotta make some experiments with it to master it, first. And damn, my stuff was wicked ugly! It's going like that for 2 days now already
Awesome. This school is strict as hell, most of the pupils get sorted out after the first year but I don't mind, even if I get thrown out, I will have learned so fucking much, I'm trembling writing this! I'm throwing myself into this gig Korean suicide-gamer-style!
On a side note, some despicable stuff, cleaning out my DS and making a quick Levitan color-study
So you're at academy now. Really cool! Those cast drawing exercises are at good moment beacause I noticed you barely go beyond quick sketch. They will teach you to do some long marathon painting. Survive that and you will do full-blown matte paintings for breakfast without even sweating .
Those last quick studies are really good. I seriously don't know what I could point out this time. Sometimes you use desaturated muddy color palette but improving that is just matter of painting a lot from observation. There aren't much rules.
Keep going and more fun stuff please .
hey dude haven't dropped by here in a while, i'm liking these updates. your digis have improved immensely since the last time i took a peek in here. i really like the vehicle wip in post #819 and the 2 portraits in post #823 are pretty sweet as well, i like the colors a lot on the second one of the two. keep up the good work mate.
To live is to create, to create is to live. Without art and music, I do not know how I would get by in my day to day life.
Charming stuff here! keep going man
I like the sketches
Nice face studies as well, I like the grayscale girl on the most!
kickass stuff here, a nicely organised sketchbook
Alright I guess I'm done sorting shit out for now (have to do that way too often recently... Can't I just draw? Damn life with its bureacracy and expenses...)
So anything exciting happened? hmmm I managed to clean 6 single socks without the other half how crazy is that? Study-wise the academy is ok, not that demanding yet, I just have to figure out how to work with charcoal what's my biggest load of studies right now., learning that new medium.
jedininjaman: Thanks dude!
Rockhart: Dude, you have 24 hours a day!
Farvus: Thank you so much and sorry for the lacking of updates and love in your SB
thesadpencil: Thanks mate, those were actually very quick non-ref portraits I think my faces are ok right now.
algenpfleger: I bet you got past me by now, no?
teena_mom: Thank you
Dile_: I sure hope so Although I feel like I'm more of a hack the last couple of moths, I have to get my game back.
MnM: Grayscale girl? O_O Thanks dear!
Clochette: hehe, just filterwork the original had normal real-fleshcolors Have it for my polish-futureportfolio-pipeline
miguelslo: nicely organized? Anyway, thank you
Not much time, got some more homework to do Just lodaing of studies I did today since I kind of resumed working digital.
Dumdidum, I'm in the vibe again I guess, morning-study with gestures, will do 100 gestures from now on today took it slow with oly 80 lol ad SP before posting+bed haha... Still most of the shit I do is drawing so no big updates but I feel refreshed since i finished that decpicable A4 and now I can go back to moleskine format and burn away the pages like I like it. These small formats suit me so much better, at least when scetching.
The masterstudies I do right now are mostly russian dudes if anyone asks I can look up the names. On a sidenote there's like my dreamgirl in my class and she said today she liked a charcoal-study of mine very much It's just that stupid fucking me is so shy when I have a crush on somebody, I can't bring myself up to speak any word... ah well I'm here to learn first and foremost anyway and she is like 100x as good as I am already went throgh 5 years of russian artschool, how crazy is that?
I think spending all of your time and energy on one really accurate painting/drawing, like spending 25 hours on one self-portrait or a cast drawing will help you much more than 500 little sketches. Once you polish something up really nicely, you start to have much higher standards for your quick work. You have to prove to yourself that you're even capable of polishing something up and getting it right, no matter how long it takes, and then you can worry about getting faster and more efficient. I don't know if the academy will ask you to do that. I'm really interested to know what type of work they expect you do.
Haha that dream girl better be your motivation to improve quickly
Well... I'll comment soon on your sketches and stuff, just happened to run into the end of your comment about that girl... one thing you might can do is ask her if she can maybe teach you some stuff or you can swap knowledge or something...?
Just don't press yourself on her and just be yourself. If she likes you for you, then what else can you do?
I think you have just as much a chance as everyone else.
I actually met my dream girl when I wasn't even looking for a dream girl, and we are happily together (5 years and counting) and working on getting married! So I think a little can go a long way... just don't be too pushy and try to be nice. Things will come around
Ha, girls, girrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrls, oh man I hear you A girl asked me out a while back and I think she really likes me because she was kinda sad when I told her: "No! \°O°/ I need to draw."
Aaaanyways, your gestures are showing a lot of improvement there O_O Posemaniacs? YOur brushwork also gets better and better, it's scary man, just keep it up, your dedication is goooooooooooooood!
Keep being dedicated dude - you rockin! as for the gals - perhaps invite her home to have look at your artwork, then when your feeling daring perhaps wip out your "wacom pen" to show her the stuff! yeah baby!
But seriously if she is so much better at it than you and still wants one of your drawings the surely she must be into you! Or ask fro help with shit dude!
My girlfriend is an artist too and rocks so hard - makes me super motivated, so apart from the sex thing they can help with art too!
I see you heading in a good direction ... keep that up and watch that form, 25 hours damn man ... "Ha, girls[...]n I told her: "No! \°O°/ I need to draw"" lol ... who needs girls when you have one hand drawing ant the other hand just sitting around doing nothing ... and some more lol . Cheers to the both of you
that last trompe l'oeil type thingy you're doing looks really cool. the gestures are really awesome too. hope the girl thing goes ok =P
About the girl. I don't even kno hy I posted about that, haha! Anyway it's kind of sorted out now and we'll leave it at that and I can continue draing like I'm supposed to.
darkwolfb87: Hey thanks for dropping by again man! About the time-isue, I understnad you, I really do but I beg you to understand me too. I do have stuff in line that gets refined right now for a future portfolio (I'm taking it slow here) but the last big masterstudies I did that I spend several days on showed me that I am not ready for that stuff yet. I get stuck and frustrated because I fucked up in a very early part, having to fuck around with proportions, my brushwork is no way near technical refinement yet and I alays have to adjust my palette. Basically I don't have the foundations and those quick scetches you see here are really mere drills to get that shit inside my head. Back in the days when I was doing Kungfu they would let us do exercises and drills for 5-6 years before we could finally whack the shit out of each other. And guess what? After al the training on how to postition the fist, ho to make a good sidekick etc there were no injusries and we could concentrate on doing combos and stuff like that. Of course there were always the old-school-masters rushing in talking about "good old times" where training basically consisted of non-stop-fighting until someone as knocked unconscious or broke some vital bone so he could fight no more. Catch my analogy? I tried and I will try but rushing into this is exactly hat I've been doing the last 3 years without any form of a good foundation and proper exercise.
Rockhart: Cheers bro!
Matte_Art: hey thanks for sharing that mate, glad you have a good going relationship and don't worry, I'm always nice haha! And I'm already learning stuff from all of the talented beasts in my class, it's a really cool atmosphere, everyone is helping out everyone.
algenpfleger: Dude with a face like yours the grrl-problems will endure I'm afraid haha!
kidult: Thanks dude!
flamable: Dunno about the direction, I just want to make art and learn how to draw It's funny because most of the peopls want to learn ho to draw in order to get those ideas out of their heads and communicate them well. I'm drawing because I feel it helps actually develop imagination and creativity. I'm never really inspired or really creative, I just happen to do my thing and seeing the stuff unfold is quite rewarding really.
hp: Hey thanks, long time not heard from you
Clochette: Merci beaucoup ma chèrie!
Today's slow on the digital frontier been doing mainly anatomy studies and shit with pencilllllls.
Haha! girls, a sweet torment.
I dont have any wisdom there, girls talk to me in private when they want a number of some guy they like , or theyll want to give me one of their friends number... their gay male friends
Way to go with the gesture pages. For that kind of stuff posemaniacs.com has a 30 second pose utility which is very fun.

Renegade89: Thanks man of course I know posemaniacs, they now have CT-scans and 3D-models of hands and cool shit like that! But for the gestures I don't use it, some I ref from antique-store books I bought and some are from head.
Just slipping in an update before meddling further with Charcoal
wow those gestures are just really fun looking. great environment, but the bg is a little round.
