hey there! sorry for checking that late, but it's been so busy round here...
great sketches! really like the cats, especially the "portrait". gives a great sense of form and depht through your hatching. would love to see more stuff from your color class, so i can learn. *grin* hope you're all right and not drowning in work. see you! cheers,
theBoognish:: I will be a second year graduate student in the fall (starting my second year) Thanks i've progressed but i have plenty to go. thanks for visiting my book.
Darktwin:: Thanks bro, i'll try and keep up with you.
Hearbeat:: Thanks for checking out my sketchbook!! the red block does look a little wierd i think i forgot to drop the small shadow in the front the grounds it on the green block.
Dhilipsomesh:: Thanks for your comments mate!!
Dile:: Thanks Dile, i have plenty of more work ahead of me as you can probably see.
Listing:: Great point, i will make sure i add the line of action before commiting to a pose, i think thats one of my first problems is not putting down the fluid line of action that would result in a much better drawing good eye mate.. good eye .
Matt Smith:: I'm glad you liked them Matt, thanks for your comments.
Stine:: Don't be Sorry Stine, we all have lives, and i know you mean no harm so don't worry oops i need to send you some more color stuff!!
Squaks:: Thanks mate and you are right a my characters are a bit more fluid but i have a long ways to go! I still need to push the poses even more!!
Thanks everyone for your warm comments and constructive criticism it is greatly appreciated, i have been motivated so much by many of you here at concept art. This is a great community for growth and friendship thank you all.
Okay i've been working on rythm its something i could use much improvement in so Bridgeman studies have been my current focus. His c and s curves combined creates accurate form and movement. Something i think all artists can use.
hey man, those studies are looking really good. especially like the 3rd and 4th one, wonderful lines. good job, keep em coming.
Kicek:: Thanks man your comments are greatly appreciated.
I forgot to post this image it was done before the bridgeman studies! but my rythm is getting better i still need to creat more dynamic poses my next one with these guys will have much more flow and engery more action!!
back to work!
the bridgeman studies are looking good, on the other guy you posted, i am not sure about the proportions, the legs look too long, if you want longer legs, maybe try exaggerating them more, so it looks more like style. are they supposed to be twins?
Hey man, sorry for not replying earlier, my computer is a real bitch to me right now.. I guess I got to much shit into it..
However, I like the bridgeman stuff alot, shows very dynamic lines, and thats good I heard haha yeah thats good man! Keep it up!
btw. Thanks for replying and for the countinued support man
I have missed some updates in your sketchbook. The drawings of the big cats are good I like also the last studies. On the other hand the last drawing isn't good. The proportions are really strange the legs are long and the arms are very short. Also I don't like the Egyptian style head. It is very unnatural to be in such a pose with the head in profile.
The progress here is amazing. good job.
Not quitting my dayjob just yet...
Matt Smith:: Hey thanks Matt i'm glad you liked the Bridgeman studies, he's all about the curves, about the other guys i the twins i made the out of proportion on purpose long and lanky i think you're right though on pushing it further.
Smitherines:: You are right i will get on to those loomis heads, never heard of Vanderpoel i will have to look him up.
J. Peckham:: thank you, still have a long ways to go!!
Darktwin:: thanks bro,
My next update is a couple of self portratis and some more bridgeman studies.
Self Portraits when i had hair now its gone!!
Those self portraits are rockin!
Love the constant bridgeman stuff, the hands are really great. Great consistancy mate.
wow, those bridgman studies are great, aaron! love them, especially the one on tinted paper... show a lot of confidence and still have their own style (which is always hard to keep when you are working directly from somebody elses's drawings). great job! the self portraits show a great sense of light and shadow, the shading is excellent. the second is my favourite, in the first (i think) the eye on the left is a tad too high, so the feautures seem a little off. always a pleasure to see more stuff from you! cheers,
Jake:: Thanks for your vist and comments
Stine:: I couldn't agree with you more about my first self portrait it is a little off, thanks for your support and criticism
Here I have some more Bridgeman studies i'm on a bridgeman kick his rythmic style is slowly sinking into my head.
This portrait was done from one of zhao mings paintings

always great to see you're working so hard, aaron. the latest studies are lovely as always, showing more and more confident lines. and the portrait is just awesome. i'm always wondering what kind of material you're using. could you describe your process/material a bit? would love to know how you work (sorry if i'm always feeding from what you learned...).
I see great progressing here! A lot´s of good stuff in here. Love those figure and hand studies, and your sp´s are also great. Keep it up!
hey man! keep doing those anatomy drawings.. really like the first of those selfportraits..
My new sketchbook! come on in and dont be shy about the comments!
My old sketchbook - come on in and drop some comments!
I have no idea if those brideman studies are copied right out of the book, but
to me, those studies are the best bridgeman studies I have ever seen on conceptart.org , yeah big words, but those are sooo great! keep it up!
O god... the improvement in here. is superb. Have to buy me some bridgeman books. it's realy looking great.. jus watched your page one, and after i did page 6. WOW..
and to see the progress at page 2, 3,4 and 5 is just superb and uber cool.. keep posting.
Hey, i'm now in your SSG, awesome hu, gunna have to update your sig now
The anatomy studies and SPs are awesome, looks like your getting on fine without any need for crits, maybe try some hardcore rendering, always fun.
keep em coming!
Crit for a crit!
Hey man, whats up with this project ? thanks for the post!
haha nice stuff! The upper body is really well done! keep those up!
the right arm (his left) is nice, but something is wrong with the anatomy cant set my finger on what, I guess its easy fixed though Good work!
hey there! wow, you're really showing some great stuff lately! good to see you're doing some more finished sketches (although i really like the fast ones). like his facial expression, but the arms bug me a little, it seems as if they have different lengths. but i'm quite new to anatomy, as you know. always a huge fan of how you draw knees, admire that.
can't wait to see more. what's the background story of that project? cheers,
Great work you're doing here man, especially on the studies mate. Think your zulu concept is under-developed right now. In SA we see lotsa Zulus, and that you have there aint yet zulu enough. Go to google images and type "Zulu" to see some great examples of how diverse the colours, braidings and props on these people are. Type "Zulu Warrior" to see more of what you're looking for. Headdress is important too, as are their shields. Keep developing that character - there's tons you can do with that theme!
hope that helps some, keep up the great work mate!
Oi! You! Get your arse on The SoFA!

Fantastic stuff in your sb. The rythm of your drawings is improving a lot with all that practice. I love the confidence in your pencil lines.
wtf, no stars?? Rated your thread, hope you enjoy
I love the rythm of your lines, the Bridgemand studies and portraits are awsome.
Cool stuff, keep 'em coming!
