Design in progress for a genetically created monster that started from ape DNA. I wanted it to have a very slight resemblance to an ape-like structure. The head and jaw were enlarged and elongated for a bigger brain and longer fangs. Do you think I should add hair since it is apelike? Also the hands/claws and feet need work. Feedback, comments, suggestions much appreciated!
u wuz a still born baby
mama didn't want u
but u wuz still born
Thats a sick looking concept! Nice line work...the anatomy seems to be working well also. I would watch the head to feet ratio though, his feet look a bit too small compared with his head. It looks " off " astheticaly if you know what I mean? If you plan on coloring this guy further i would think about taking out some of those lines...its looking too busy at points like the left arm for example. Keep working and post more =)
i tend to see the values and push and pull them.
darkes i push back
lights i pull forward.
cools go back, warms come forward.
what might help u is old days they take a rag of smear the whole background
maybe the white behind them is not helping ur values. now u got ur darkest dark
and a over all grey value might help u see ur lightest colors.

"Apes" usually have very flat faces, no slope to the forehead, jaw, etc. I think you would do well to incorporate that into your project because its really the faces of animals that we have heavy associations with.
Wow, I sound ... official there, scary.
Anyways, looking good, keep us updated!

I like the inking one, although the details on the head make the head structure a bit hard to see.
The colored version could use more contrast, and I agree it might look better if you take out some of the lines in the color version.
