Ruth! How I love that story. ^_^ The drawings you did for it are great! I particularly like her walking past the two guys. And I just love how you do hands. I'm planning to re-learn to draw those, and dreading it.
And the animation - I love how fluid the movements are. Especially near the beginning where the bear's ears abd chest-fluff bounce and flow with the rest of him. And the snooty-looking little skunk made me snicker. Poor bear. ;P
Nice update. Think Carnifex and Sve pretty much nailed the crits of you having fun.
As for you action poses and adults, they look good but I think you can push a little harder. The one that reminds me of Spike Speigal is probably the best for pushing the dynamic. The baseball pitcher in ink looks the best for doing an animation.
The exploration of Ruth looks good so far. Keep it up and have fun with it.
Now for pushing you a little more Mrs. Animator. How about doing sketches of both children and adult action poses but from various camera angles? I'm curious to see what you do.
Skrunchey - thanks! Haven't had an opportunity to animate more...busy, dagnabbit!
Carnifex - you're welcome. You're right about the skunk walk - it worked for that little bit (and I confess, I LOVE it) but any more and I'd have to shake it up. That stray bit of drawing is a quirk of Flash exporting. See, on my computer (a Mac) it doesn't show up, but for some reason on PC's it shows way more than the actual field that is supposed to be shown. I don't know why, but it's annoying!
Wolfess - thank you! I hardly deserve such effusive praise because there are tons of people far better than I. And I wouldn't set up a tent here if I were you - I post maybe twice a month these days! But I appreciate it.
Sveta - thank you! I had a lot of fun animating those. But I have discovered to my chagrin that I am far better at animals than humans. d'oh! Practice of humans will hopefully follow.
Nero's Master - you're welcome! Always glad to oblige. and yes, I've heard that my style resembles Disney (or in this case, Dreamworks, no?) pretty much all my life. Must be all those early (and current) years of serious Disney addiction.
Kat Warrior - yeah, it's a cute story. I'm not sure if we're going to do it still - the project will be decided (hopefully) next week. I need to practice hands more too - I do believe hands are one of those things one needs to practice constantly all one's life. So start 'er up!
Kentucky - Very well Mr. Art Director. I shall push myself a bit harder.
Matt Smith - Thank you!
Well, some updates!
This little girl and cat have captured my imagination, so look for further pages developing them. I'm not entirely happy with the cat yet, but the girl is pretty much set.
beautiful... I love your sketches...
for the girl,i'd suggest keeping that face (down left),but lengthening her body to alittle less than double size and giving her really long legs(i forgot at which age,but at some age children tend to get extremely long legs in relationship to the body,i think it's about...7?8?something like that).
edit: just read wolfess' statement LOL. thank you

Nice new posts. I really liked the girl tipping the hat. Something keeps making me think they lack some kind of emphisis. Hmmm. They're not bad at all, just distracted somehow. *shrug*
Wow...just wow. You kp getting better. So fluid with your lines. Thanks for sharing all this with us. I wish i could do more than just fawn over all of it...but I can't.
Nice line work as usual. Looks like you were just going at it with nothing specific in mind until you hit the girl and cat. I agree that the girl seems to be pretty much nailed down and simplified enough for animation. The cat just seems to lack the personality compared to the girl. I feel that part of the cat's personality is that he is big, hence the size of him to the girl. Beyond that he just doesn't seem to have much "cat" personality (which I don't know how to explain, but that it's a cat thing). I am liking the ruff on the cat, makes me think he might be an alpha.
Of your other human drawings, the man in furs is by far your best male I've seen you draw to date.
hey, i have to agree that they seem a bit distracted from the norm. but i do know that you have lots going on. as for the little girl and cat, the girl is cute, but with the cat... its' face on the side closest to the girl looks to me like it is "smooshed" like (s)he is pressing that side of the face against glass. it doesn't have the feel of roundness on the one side. it took me a couple of days to figure it out, but i think that is the main prob. with the cat. other than that i have gotten a fix for staring at your work.... anyways i will be anxiously awaiting the next post... I KNOW I KNOW...tell Kentucky I am getting stuff scanned in to start my own sketchbook

The greatest man is nothing compared to the Arabian horse... www.majere.com
wow that is all over that really good!! yeah!
glikster - thanks!
Carnifex - I tried your suggestion, and it took me a bit before I was happy with the results. Dang kids. I like doing 'em short and chubby - easier to draw!
Quinster - well, you're probably right. Drawing in vain search of a thought, to paraphrase Rush Limbaugh. Hopefully these are less distracted?
Dermidlet - it can be, but more often I get frustrated at my own style and feel like I can't break out of it and do something different. I need to go to life drawing again...But yeah, I have the most fun when I'm doing outrageous expressions!
crazy3dman - I'm sure you could come up with some flaws to point out - I see so many! I'm glad you enjoy.
Kentucky - you're right about that cat. As you'll see below, I went through pages of frustration before changing him completely into a dog! And thanks. I don't draw men nearly enough. Girls are easier.
Skrunchey - yay! You finally started your sketchbook! Way to go! And I'm FINALLY updating...sheesh, I didn't realize it'd been quite that long...*ahem* anyways, yeah, the cat wasn't working.
Lostvingiel - I'm glad you like. Most people don't, too weird I guess. Oh well.
OleOlson - Thanks!
Wow...um, yeah, that was a lo-o-o-ong break! Sorry about that. Being a newlywed and all that is a trifle distracting...but! I do have a huge update, so here goes:
Having fun with the girl
Not so much fun with the cat
Tried elongating the girl...didn't quite work here
Kentucky suggested turning the cat into a dog:
Annnd...now he's working!
Changed the girl up again - lookin' good!
Had a thought for a completely different girl
Awww..isn't she cute?!?
Some random sketches
More of the girl
More random stuff
rabbits and boys.
great characters and solid lines here. cant believe i didnt come across this before.
5 stars material.

Hey Tei, How's things? It's so good to see the master back at work, body language is awsome as always. I recent went to venture into some body language myself with some shocking results, hehe, I think I am going to look into more of your work and see what I can learn from them. Great expressions and ideas, hope you are doing well! cheers, Min
love the new stuff, very cute !!
Love these!! Keep on going!! Judy
Such fun ideas. You have an awesome imagination.
perhaps chipmunks coated in bark, or trees sporting the latest in chipmunk coiffure...Originally Posted by oomgawaWow! You've been busy. I will check your progress more often.
Checked out the link to your website and LOVED the wip for the koala and red panda. Fabulous animation.
Agreeing with everyone else, more humans please, especially like the page of "harpies". So how about the cameltaur?
just when ya think ya wise, nature proves ya dumb
Much less distracted and more vibrant than ever! Good work, I really like where you've gone with the anatomy since you first started!
Very nice update you have here. Granted I get to see them before they come here, but at least here I have more time to really look over them.
The dog and girl are working very well. They seem to have a chemistry that most kids and dogs have. The dog reminds me of Tramp from Lady and the Tramp and Charlie from All Dogs Go to Heaven that have been grafted into your style of drawing.
The only crit I have is the girl in the lower left of page 11. It "feels" like her hand on her hip and thigh is a tiny bit to large for the rest of her. If this was a guy, I'd say it's the akward stage all guys go through growing up where our hands and feet seem to be huge compared to the rest of the body. Otherwise, she is top notch and makes me think she's an early teen who's trying to figure out this whole "woman" thing.
Over all this is a strong update and you still make your lines look effortless.
ahhh much love.
so much character.
i feel dumb for not contributing any useful comments, but oh well.
cool that you considered my thoughts.
tensai - thank you! I don't post often enough anymore, that's why...
Trippystate - thanks! Wacky positions are what makes life fun!
bumskee - hey dude! You need to post more, I hardly ever see your sketchbook up anymore. In fact, you post about as often as I do! ...:X...okay, need to follow own advice...hehe, I'm doing great, work is good, just bought a (relatively) new SUV for a ridiculously low price - proof once again there is a God and He loves me. How about you??
Setherial - thanks! There's a reason I'm called the Lean, Mean, Cute Machine...
Judy Warner - I aim to please.
Michael Gioffredi - thanks. I try to feed it regularly.
wisdumb - hm. Interesting idea, I'll have to try it.
Asoir - thank you!
Quinster - thanks! About to hit the anatomy books again though, I've noticed lately that I generally avoid drawing males like the plague. Not good. Perhaps I should find a construction site to get a good idea of typical manly male poses...
Kentucky - yeah, you're right about her hand. *sigh* I either draw hands too large or too small. Need to practice those too!
Carnifex - you're welcome. I do try and listen and incorporate people's suggestions.
Icey - thanks! I'll try and post more often.
Had an AWESOME weekend, drew tons (for me lately) so decided to post!
I'm not that great at monsters and dragons, that's why I said 'ugly' monsters...and lions as requested.
ton o' thumbnails, with some concepting for last week's CHOW I didn't have time to finish.
Tei! SUV? oh right had to google it.. hehe.. awsome.. glad to hear everything going as planned, me? just working.....drawing......sleeping.......nothing much. yeah I do need to update my SB, how's the happy married life btw?
I think you already know how I feel about ur work, these look solid as always. Wish you had time to wrap up the ChOW though, looks promising.
Hope you are doing well Tei. cheers, Min
Fun character designs and gestures, I really like your design on the zebras! Keep up the good work!
