apathy - arigatou, ne. thx for the advice this morning. ill pay special attention to it the next painting i do.
colored it in, my friend liked the picture. i like the forms. its missing something though. well, here it is! enjoy the day, folks!
oldnew - thx man. if i do any more portraits (which i definitely will), ill put them up. i need lots of color work, so ill definitely hit that up more. your stuff's been really on lately, so congrats man.
a little speedy monochrome environment i whipped out. im not so good at these, so i think in the future i should start based on photos. well, crits appreciated. ill put up pencil stuff when i get a shot.
It's ages since I've been in here! You're pencil and pen gestures have come on a long way. Your lines have gotten much more confident and fluid. As for the environment stuff - I would definitely recommend doing some studies (like you said) in order to build up a visual vocabulary and confidence. Environments is something I'm slogging away at and I've found that sites like corbis.com are a great place to find photos to inspire or to use as reference. Also try using some different brushes. I've been very guilty of using only the standard hard round brush in the past and it tends to leave my stuff looking flat and lifeless.
Anyway, keep it up!
nikuman - oishii yo! thx for stoppin by man. yep, i found a place from ref, so ill be working from that stuff when i do envs for now. as for brushes, im tryin to change up. last one was painter's artist oils static bristle brush (or something...could be a custom one, i forget). but i love artist oils regular brush...i love the way it blends. ahhhhhhh, kimochi ii ne! anyway, yep, need to use more brushes too. i find that my biggest gains in pencils are just cause i draw all the time in my down time, like when im on the train goin to and from work and other places as well. so i just gotta practice (and practice correctly), right? keep it hott, you're doin some fresh things over in yo' spot.
so, its been weeks, but here's those pencils i promised. keep it hott. on ice.
oldnew - thx l, will keep trying. its a never-ending battle, but i'll win. thx for stoppin by!
environment speedy, and a semi-self-portrait spseeeeeeedy for your listening enjoyment
bakasan - this is some of the stuff i can do with smooth (2nd pic). hope its up to par. i actually like it better than the rough paper, but the rough is cheaper, so ive been going with that. thx about the paintings; a lot of it's you'r fault.
thegnoll - thx for stopping by dude, and thx. start experimenting! my "experimenting" is just pulling stuff out of my bum, cause i don't know really what im doing. but i figure its helping though, so its what im doing at the moment. again, thx for stopping by, glad you like what you see. definitely drop a crit anytime. see you in your book!
b - yo b, that was me in those commercials! no, just kidding. anyway, that would be like, much better if it was me. sorry, im tired and i don't know what im saying; better quit while im ahead. thx for the visit, come back soon!
like i said, falling asleep. today was portrait day in harajuku, only sold one. wish i could scan it, but i dont have it. c'est la vie...

nice updates I like the way this one the most, reminds me of my nephew when he was young, has that same facial expression
oldnew - thx man. hey, i was digging through paperX's thread, and just found out you're chinese. why didnt you tell me!? that makes you even cooler. 8) is your nephew's birthday coming up? i can sell you that picture for $10.
been trying to find the best spot to sell portraits, or even the right niche in tokyo. its a whole different ballgame man, i tell you. haven't found the right place yet; just keep truckin, i guess. here's some stuff from yesterday. ^_^
naj - thx for stopping by dude. i will keep drawing; hope you keep liking what you see. i checked out your site, really lovin the pixel art. gosotsugyou omedetou! dono gurai nihono wo benkyoushita no? saito ni aru kappa-san ga omoshiroi. mi ni kite arigatou ne; come back soon. oh, and start a sketchbook (or if you have one, link to it in your signature ).
late spring cleaning today, so for a brief respite, some quick pencils from tonight. oh, and some bears for b-man. i seriously think i have long term ADD. getting sidetracked too much; gotta do something about it...
it's my pleasure, purb. things continue to look great.
I like the bear, specifically the one with the closeup, the bear next to him looks like a guy in a bear suit, not sure if that was your intention, but i like it.
Thanks for looking at my site, glad you like my work.
Thanks for the heads up on the sketchbook too, i put a link in my sig if you want to take a gander.
One more thing...do you have a mixi by chance? I want to add you if you do.
naji-kun - arigatou ne. the bears were the first ones ive ever tried to draw semi-realistically, and not knowing bear anatomy they came out more humanoid than bear. well, glad SOMEBODY likes it. naji-kun, nihon ni kureba iin jya nai? nihonjin ga ippai iru dakara waryoku (話力; i think i made that up but you understand, right?） ga ookiku natte, hanasu no ga motto motto jyouzu ni naru. mixi wa nai...saikin isogasisugi dakara, sonna saito ga amari tsukawanai, facebook de mo, myspace de mo. facebook aru kedo...
hope you come back soon man; see you in your space.
been a lot going on lately, and ill write more about it as i get a chance. here's a little bit of artwork. thank you, come again.
ok. so for the past few weeks ive been doing a lot. my dad decided to come to japan, as he's worried cause im unemployed. so that was cool, we had fun together. after that, my friend who's a film director came out to tokyo to be in a short films festival, so i got to hang out with him and a bunch of other filmmakers for a couple days. on top of that, i got my first freelance art gig, doing a character for a pitch to an animation studio. the guy really liked what i did, and if the pitch goes well, i might get other work from him, which would be pretty sweet. besides that, football and making music and doing some teaching on the side. so, busy busy busy. its been fun though, but still a lot of stuff to be done. anyway, here's some artwork in progress. enjoy folks!
oldnew - thx lee. it's starting to come along, so that's an improvement. hopefully i can have the will to keep working on it. ill put up more as i do more. thx for stopping by man, thx for showing me luv. and nice new avatar.
some old stuff i forgot to upload. cheeeeeeeers!
oldnew - thx lee. any reason in particular why you like it? take it ez, thx for droppin by.
hey folks, long time no see. ok, so for like, the past month, ive been working on various projects, so very little time to post, or even draw things for pleasure. i just scanned in 39 pages from the past couple weeks (that's not including project final stuff, but like, project sketches and stuff)...its quite a bit. so im not going to post all that stuff right now; im going for a little change of scenery to continue this project. so i will see y'all after i come back on friday; hopefully you won't miss me too much. here's a friend's portrait; hope y'all enjoy. ttys, peeps, and come again.
aight, its been a looooong time since ive updated, and there's only so much i can show at the moment. anyway, ill put up what stuff i can. keep watchin, cause ill keep postin. whoever you are, thx for stoppin by!
