Am loving the Sargeant studies. Great to learn from the masters. Loomis is one of the best references for any drawing or illustration around. You are on the right track. Keep it up.
Hey man did you get my call ? I hope things are going well for the future And yes I have been drawing...but havent uploaded anything yet as I am currently praying to the high above for a massively awesome laptop for $500 ahah (*cough* fujitsu tablet *cough*). But anyways I am drawing...not much but every day when i have a few minutes/seconds/hours.
As for your stuff here...you are gonna punch me in the gonads but SLOW DOWN! Its not a race man. Some of your new stuff is kickin hard core...but a lot of it seems like you are rushing to get the information in. The sargeant study painted above is a good example. Now I want to see you finish it Finish it slowly even if it is the wrong base color...thats the whole point in learning. Or is it ;P ?
Anyways, I promise you i will get some shizz up soon. Give me a ringy dingy whenever you have the moment.
fireflower - hey, thanks for stopping by, and for the encouragement! i'm honored, and yep, i WILL keep it up. take care!
W - tetsuooooOOOOOOOOO! dang, did i not get back in touch? sorry man, i'm off my rocker lately. work's got me twisted, i have seriously noooo idea what day it is ever. recent stuff...yeah, man, i need to slow down sometimes. honestly, i'm finding it hard to draw lately, especially painting. grateful for the sketchgroup, cause it makes me draw. anyway, i have a still life set up that i just have been avoiding painting for the past couple days, i dunno why. maybe i should just knock it out today. thx for the encouragement, and the kick in the butt, my gentle ninja friend. hope the fam is doing well. talk soon bro. poooooOOOOST!
gotosome sketchbook pages to scan. just a paintsketch from tonight. see y'all soon, with a slower study.
Wonderful work in here! Your observation skills are truly something. Well, your overall drawing skill is pretty badass is general, actually I really have to check up on you more often!
Many thanks for the continuous support as well
Hey poopy pants No worries. I figured that you had a lot on your plate at the moment. And if you need to, take a break from drawing for a day or two...or perhaps a week. Maybe you are just getting too frustrated trying to juggle everything at once. Baby steps man hehe And yes the fam is great...although yuri felt like log rolling down the stairs yesterday...giving both myself and the wife a heart attack. He is fine though. Tough little guy ahah.
stay well and keep in touch and dont sweat it. It all works out in the end. Motivation or not.
faust - thx buddy, hope all's going well with you too! i'll be in touch.
AsaB - hey dude, thx for stopping by! glad you like what you see. i hope all my advice is helpful. keep rockin out dude! see you soon!
W - glad all's going well with you and the fam, and that despite his best efforts, yuri hasn't given himself any serious damage so far. i'll try to call sometime this week. lemme know when's best. talk soon.
"quick" still life today...off to work!

just thought I'd show my face around here... some neat studies and sketches... and that sith with the floaty hands was looking great too.
Diggin' the Ditch?
oh sweet, i havent been to spain in years, i used to always go when i was younger, but since my passport ran out, i havent been abroad ;(
thanks for the advice again, ill have to have a proper flick through yours soon, got too much work on the go at the minute to think about drawings haha, the closest thing to drawing im doing at the minute are animation thumbnails...and stick men crawling on the floor is hardly "figure studies"
ill post up some of my current project [videos] when i render and export them
toki - i know, right? i usually don't like "places"...i do now.
ditch - thx dude. i thought the idea was fun, maybe the execution didn't go as well as i'd hoped. well, at the very least, i had fun. see you 'round.
iheart - advice is always free man. at least, until i become a professional. can't wait to see what you're working on. seems like your hard work is paying off. keep it up!
so, as i showed, we worked on an Easter banner for a church in spain. here's some of the process. see y'all soon!
sup dudezorz....I was in the middle of juggling baby + wife with wisdom teeth out so my brain went lax after that. So I forgot to call you back :| Are you back in the states temp? I will get my brain to remember to call you sometime this week...sorry for the forgetfulness :|
tet - hey man, did i not call you back yet? if not, i'm sorry...i'm forgetful like that, and work makes me crazy, i dont' even remember what day it is half the time. talk to you sometime this week man. take care.
chamber - hey dude, thx for stopping by. glad you like, and i will definitely keep practicing. see you in your book. cheers dude!
i have like, a TON of sketchbook pages that i scanned...i'll put them up when i can. paintsketch from tonight. see y'all!
*well, i was ambitious. thus ends one sketchbook...more scans next time!
moreeeeee!!!! so...a little bit of everything this time: sketches, studies, collabs, illustration, id, portraits...the works! hope everybody's doing well. happy belated mother's day!
more scans next time.
watercolours on that beach pic? you know I dig it.
Diggin' the Ditch?
ditch - ha! it figures that you like the stuff i didn't actually do. my lines, a friend's watercolors. i'll let her know you dig. glad you're well and productive man.
studies, and back to pencils, after a long hiatus. anatomy studies, and and...(slightly off) sPOW!s. later gators!
ha, that's funny... but I didn't mean it like it was much better than the other stuff - I was saying that because you know I'm always posting water colours in my sketchbook, I do like it though - so pass on those props.
Diggin' the Ditch?
hey purb -- that cube study is a really good exercise, I remember having to do similar stuff in classes..it's a neat challenge of what you see versus what you expect to see--no surface has just a solid flat color. Looks like you captured that well on the front face in particular. It might be worth doing another cube or two like that
Those hand studies are great!
ditch - it's all good. i like it tons too, and i'm tooootally in awe of her color ability, especially in just mixing. it's muuuuch harder than it looks, i realize now. digital has made me soft...i should do some mixing exercises. anyway, thx for the visit man; see you soon.
bsjoe - long time no see. i know work and all that is busy, but u should post more often. anyway, thx man! which cube pic are you talking about, digi or pencil? i got the idea from the g'mon vids on rendering matte surfaces, and also from Basic Rendering, by Robert W. Gill; really trying to work on form and painting and stuff, so it's all stuff that helps, i think. well, there'll be more to come. i did some drawing with friends at the mfa last night, which was pretty fun; you used to do that too, right? hope to see you out sometime man. take care, and update, ne!
model night at the boston museum of fine arts on wednesdays...they LIED! so apparently, even though they touted on their website that wednesdays are figure drawing, me and some friends get there and they promptly let us know that it's object drawing. was not happy, but at least it was free. so i got some good time in, and museum-goers make good for quicksketching. but you won't see those this time. some scans from earlier this week, and more illos; much much on the horizon. enjoy!!
btw, i dont no about you, but the new next-gen Bionic Commando looks good to ME! not that i would get it or anything, cause it's not in my projected lifetime budget. but YOU should pick it up. see y'all!
nice as usual... the last self portrait's eyes are out of whack and the top of the head looks a bit skewed.
Diggin' the Ditch?
ditch - yeah, i know...i didn't really notice until after i was done. shame, really, cause it probably looks the most like me out of all the recent ones. always back to the drawing board...
a quick SLoW...about an hour. getting faster, yaaaaay!
You're making mad progress mate! How about you try making those things from head?
faust - hey man, good to see you! these still lifes and stuff have a specific purpose, but yep, more will come from the head in the future. all of the simple shape ones are from my head. guess i should start working on more complex ones... anyway, good to see you...where's your updates? see you soon.
sketches from mfa, and practice inspired from the zhanglu/manley video. dangit, CA, stop making me spend money!
