Be careful with the anatomy on the profile. The cheek should be much farther forward and the ear placement is also too far back. Getting better...
Your anatomy studies are really paying off! Keep 'em up, 'cuz your improving rapidly! The elf would gain a lot of depth if you pushed the shading to match the outline.
i think you shouldn't try to draw from mind when you are studing from life, i was told by many artist to stay at life drawing about one year , hard studies and many hours drawing.... then when u finish drawing exactely what u see,
you start sketching from mind without dropping life drawing.
but your drawing are quitely good, try to apply your previous studies
Heroic...u did a very good job..v.good progress...look i'm not a pro. but i 'll tell u an advice that helped me so much...try to be free when u Draw...don't be heavy on the paper ..draw on it as u r flying over it...free..flexible..i'm sure it will help...at least a little......keep studying...G.luck...
Progress as usual. DRAW MORE DUDE! The guy before me, Raminator. His advice is golden.
Thx for visiting.
wooh, so much critiques. thx alot. i'll keep all your words in mind.

uhm,. maybe my eyes got cancer but..
u should keep ur shapes like a cylinder... check ur legs..
when u see the cylis almost fron the side.. u dont see the tip O like O usee it more like |
do more single cylinder studies otherwise its 2 confuzing
between O and | there are 90 shapes.. one shape for each degree ° .. u need to find all of them .. ur studies are nice but they are confuzing and they might look better when u stop drawing both O O for the cylis
only draw the visible shitz.. this way its very hard to understand the orientation from the arms and legs..
check cylinders in my sketchbook
Have you seen your first few posts since you started this thread?
Good improvements. Keep em up.
Try something for me. When you draw, don't use multiple strokes. Try to nail that curve in one stroke. Visualise it, then BAM! More flow in the lines.....keep working on anatomy though....but try to draw more from real life now....you already have gotten quite far in terms of anatomical knowledge....now merge the 2 together....see someone sitting there...imagine them as a skeleton, then naked, then add the clothes
There are 3 sides to every story. Yours, mine and THE TRUTH.
Like your new avatar.
Regarding your sketches, I would like to see some shading using lines and not smearing. I figured shading with lines and crossing lines helps me develop my line quality and it makes you see differently and more accurate – maybe it will help you to improve some more as well!
The green girl, from reference, is great !
I also think you should work some more on drawing from reference now ... build your images library ...
I preferably work in cycles ... study ... life/ref ... no ref ...and combinations of those ... you never want to have one area stay weaker than the others, cause the others will suffer from it imho... which reminds me ... time to go to life drawing heeh ... see you later on msn or so ( by the way did you get the pic ? if not lemme know & I send it again) !
see ya !
It's good to see you drawing in the hidden edges on some of those figures: if you can do that accurately, then you should really begin to see how things work in three dimensions. Drawing cylinders in perspective is the hardest thing you can do, so don't give up on them, as you'll be able to construct complex shapes more easily. Now, go draw, and make the most of that March break!
great job and great improvement!
Hey,, wow. Lotssa replies, Awesome. thx for the comments everybody.
-sideshowbob- Aye aye sir, i just wanted to put the hidden lines too, but i learnt the concept now, thx to u.
I'll keep my eyes on that, and hey,, am still doin the cylinder studies, i just dont feel to post it here
darth massacre- Hey, ya now, i just dont copy, i can use my imagination, and also i have learnt alot. How to creat a standard male/female, how to rotate each proportion, how to move em. But, i still need to practice alot more.
Thx for the advice, yup, thats what i want to do. But i think its a little early, i should still do alot more on copying and imagination, and my studies.
Imageproof- Hey, ok, i'll sure do that next time im drawing on paper. thx alot for visiting and giving great advices.
NightVision- hey,, man,, am so shy, i cant post in your sb and do hit mine. Thx alot dude, i'll take a visit to your sb ASAP.
Yup, i think its time to use ref. Thats an awesome idea, i've also asked u on msn.
I'll get crackin' ASAP
pissant- Heyy, Thx for visiting.
Yup, i've said it before, i have started drwain the cylinders and rotating them and learn forshortening. its really helpfull. Im still doin them.
Thx for visitin.
cuzzo- heyhey, thx for visitin'
your sketches are awesome. love your portraits.
Visit more often, i'll be happy to hear some comments on my works from u
ok, heres one new drawin i did today. ive called it christi. No ref.
And this was one quicky i did. One of Sketchgroup's members and i decided to choose a topic and start drawin, cause we were bored that time, so, we chosed VAMPIRE. lolz, this might not looks like a vampire. but, ehh, this is my first touches with ps brushes.
um,, am alittle busy because of the sketchgroup, thats why i cant update my sb that much. Hope u enjoy these.
C&Cs are HIGHLY welcome
hey! great works here , makeing me feel like i should just put the pencil and paper away for good . take a gander at my sketchs if ya get a chance
WOAH, the last time i have posted was March 26th, ANd today am updating my SB. damn man. Long time, :p
well, skool was taking my whole time, and i was drawing, but seriously i didnt have time to even check out ca.org or my own e-mail. Because recently i was busy with some new work in skool. My Graphic Designing teacher, liked me and my friend'd job, so she said if we want to have alittle job in skool, part of it volunteery, part of it we will get paid. Its for advertising. it was pretty cool, but ehh, its getting my time. SO, its kindda like the end of the year now, and we can put the work for later.
Phew,, but tell u what, i havent stopped drawing. ive continued drawing very little in skool, which wasnt enough. but ive started drawing serious a page again. From 2 days a go.
Ive got to do lotssa studies now. Lots and lots everyday. What i was doin recently was all using my imagination, but i think its better to do studies now and also keep the imagination comin along with it and improve it.
Ive did some digital works too. meh, its not good though, well, am just a beginner
hOpe U enJoy these. ANd Like Always Gimme ur C&Cs. Although theres nothing to c&c about
Pretty much my 1st environment with tablet. it look stupid somehow, oh, well, it was from imagination. And i didnt know how to work with Painter IX.
Some other works with painter:
i just got to work more with tablet and painter brushes, thats for sure ..
It's been quite some time, huh? Hope school's going well for you! Good to see you studying Loomis and that Christi digipaint from March25... very good work, sir!
I had a thought, which was a decision I had to make a while ago, that I think would be of use to you. I was about to get a Wacom, I wanted one sooo bad cus they are awesome and you can do some really incredible things with one, but I decided not to. Instead, I decided to work on my tradtional art more and more and get a real feel for drawing and looseness before moving up to digipainting... hell I don't even know anything about color yet so I've still got a long way to go. What I'm trying to say is, for me, having a more solid traditional black/white pencil drawing and then studying color is what I think would be most beneficial and a good prerequisite before moving onto digipainting.
Really good improvement, and it's really good to see you doing different things and not getting into a comfort zone. It's late and this post might not make any sense at all, but it does to me haha.
Take it easy, man. Don't stress too much!
thx bro for stoppin by and givin me some great thougths again. u were the only person in my head that would come and reply to my thread. Thanx alot man.
yes u are right about the tablet. ive got to work more with paper and pencil , and i know that. But i just use tablet sometimes like for a break.
Its really great.
Ok, i was workin on this this afternoon. the purpose i drew this was because i wanted to get use to brushes. And i wanted to learn how to give depth and add shadows and lightings to my painting.
So, ya, i know the neck is a little small for the head. but ehh for the heck of it, IV LEARNED HOW TO DRAW A NECK. YAY. and also i learnt how to draw a head too. Well,, its not really great, i know it has lotssa wrong things in it , but, oh well. I think it was a great approuch.
I didnt copy from anything, nobody gave me the idea, nobody helped me how to figure out what brushes to use. I DID IT ALL MYSELF, and im happy
hey whats up man. I came to look at your book see if I could be of assistance.
Your recent work is remarkably stronger than your first posts! that shows that youve not just been drawing but also working on solutions for problems, whether you know it or not. Now the things that Id suggest are the things that I did to improve. now I see that youve been working on your anatomy.I suggest you go and get this anatomy book. this is a link to amazon dotcom.
this book is my best friend. next I suggest that you use a harder and sharper pencil. something that doesnt dull quickly. I started doing this and realized the significance. I didnt have to be restricted to the original lines that I put down. I could easily pull them up. I know your young to the pencil so this is good to hear now. It seems that you are drawing from the outside in. I would suggest that you get that book and study the muscular stucture of the body the. I chose to study the body in portions. the arm the legs the back and so on. when you do this it should be like a puzzle or a secret code that you are trying to unlock. you want to learn how one muscle relates with another or with the bone that its connected to. how its movement affects the body. any way if you ever have any questions that you think I could answer. you know where to find me. Id love to help you.
First, it s nice to see you work quite a bit, so keep on this way.
Now i'll try to give you some tips to train you efficiently, only my humble opinion, absolutly no truth !
1/ Anatomy is good, but doing too much isnt good ! it leads to stereotypical (?) figure, always the same, with huge anatomy disproportion. The more often, an arm is only a cylinder, with really slighlt adjustments due to muscle, you should know your anat it helps, but you can also do it by only having a mirror ( Da vinci did his anat a lot this way, of course it has somethings wrong, but still it s good i think )
2/ Do a lot of nude drawings if you can
3/ Do a lot of sculpture drawing. Go to the museum with a pad, sometimes a big one, and draw sculpture, it ll train your observation, it s the number ONE skill. Do it like a photography, check alignement, proportion etc... I think it s a very very important part of training. If you good in imagination, and no observation, you'll be stuck in one moment. After lot of hard work, i doubt you want that.
So, only my 2 cents, hope it ll help,
and keep drawing, it s hard, but it becomes more and more fun when you re really dedicated to it.
Wow, your figure drawing has improved a great deal since you first posted. Keep working at it. Just taking a look at your work, since you posted on mine. I don't have any recomendations or anything, except to keep doing what your doing. I will keep watching.
Keep it up!! I see you're improving... keep posting....
Hey, you've got a great collection of anatomy studies. Way to go. Your work as improved much from page 1. Great work. Keep them coming. I'll be checking back. Later

heh it s funny to see someone who has the same anatomy book as I have ( the one of Burne Hogarth)
