Manley and Jones just visited our school and gave us all a proper spanking. (Thanks, guys, we all needed it!)
But, I didn't get enough, so I decided to go ahead and post a painting for the first time, and get a good rodgering from my fellow friends.
This painting is quite a labor for me. It's probably the most ambitious piece I've ever done, and it's terrifying me at times. So any advice you could give would be VERY appreciated!
nice concept. the anatomy of the man is a little off-- his lower half is too long--other than that its a good peice--keep it up---ty
okay here's what I found to be wrong with it. I think that the creature's hand pointing in a different direction than his line of eyesite throws the viewer off.2: IMO the outline around the creatures hands doesn't look good. The trees lack texture, roundness and detail. What might have helped would be the direction in which you initially started the painting. I think it would have looked better to have done the composition diagonally. That way it helps with the flow of the piece and esepecially the man and creature.
Do you agree or disagree with my comments, just curious...
There is nothing wrong with using a photo to help you see things.
No one complains about life drawing,
so take a photo.
its easy, and will improve your piece greatly."
