this is just a small part of a larger piece but it is secret for now and to be blunt this is probably the best part anyway.
more for the fun of the textures.
hey thats pretty cool. So how do you achieve your textures digitally? Is it just brushes that you use or do use other ways of achieving textures? this is something im pretty ignorant on when it comes to digital painting. Good work!!!-ty
Honestly, I can't tell what's really going on here. It's looking really flat, and maybe it'll have more cohesion when we see the entire composition.
The figure's a little too straight-on, which is strange for you to do, 'cause you're typically very dynamic with your poses. I'll refrain from other comments 'til I see the finished piece.
conceptcreature when you say "honestly" does that mean you usually are not? as i said it is a small portion of a larger piece and was meant to show texture and color.
tyboogie, i use the painter program and all of it's wonderful paper texture along with the dry media tools, variable flat brushes and captured bristle (which can give allot of texture all on it's own). i also downloaded a wonderful palette knife set here on the forums. it is one of my new favorite tools.
i like photoshop 6 only in that i know how to use it well. i do have photoshop 7 loaded but the new brushes irritate me.
Doesn't look flat to me.
I love the texture! That's the stuff I should work on.
I can almost smell the paint!
Although it's digital paint... :p
Nice work, and it'll be cool to see the whole piece.
that looks like a sculpture.. seriously.
my imagination is running wild.
very nice so far!
Your renditions never seize to amaze me. I love the color, the composition of your works, The application of it. And most of all, your textures. Organic, thats what comes through a lot. Robots, you have your own special way of bringing that element of it being organic. At least to me it is. Very inspiring.
This piece like everything else, beautiful. Thats a very nice blue that makes it stand. Colors well chosen.
Wishing you all the best on the piece.

This reminds me of a huge.. three or four story sculpture of Buddah I visited when I was a kid. I was actually a temple. You could go inside and all. Well, I remember that the aging of the material, not to mention all the bird poop thrown in for good measure, gave it some incredible texture. It was one of the most beautiful things I remember seeing from my childhood. Thanks for reminding me of it. I love the textures you have going.
If there was one thing that I dont particularly like it would be the mouth. It seems out of place to me. It could be that it will tie in better to the rest of the piece... and looking at it more I might like it less if the mouth was gone. I dunno. I guess all the other shapes seem to be sculpted except that and it throws me off.

damn thee birds.
anyways, can't wait to see the finished product. Probably would be best to post "teasers" in the sketch/wip sections.
