thanks for the tip, fig. took some in college and it's absolutely wonderful, i agree. 's oddly detached from my conceptual stuff, though, for some reason. have a hard time applying what i do in the figure drawing classes to imagination-based drawing sometimes. anyone else get that?
anyway, here's hal again, on photoshop with the graphics tablet.

"your never as good......and your never as bad.....as you think"
Glad to see you picked up photoshop. it was really painful to see mspaint crippling you like that. go to www.saveloomis.org and read figure drawing for all its worth. I believe it will help you a LOT. And if you can, take live figure drawing classes. You say that you have a hard time applying what you learn while figure drawing to your conceptual drawings. Well, study anatomy and do as much figure drawing as you can, and before you realize it, you will start applying it to your work automatically. If something is off, you will notice it.
Anyways, youre on the right track, and there's only one way to go from here.
draw draw draw!

thanks slash. checked out your stuff. great shading. like 'em best when you shade 'em. awesome. your women and monsters remind me of igor kordey stuff.
a quick gestural sketch from college.
an old "face page" from an airplane. i like drawing on
airplanes. it's interesting, you can see the disparity
between my life-drawing and my conceptual-drawing
abilities on this page, pretty clearly, i think.

this was some stuff for webpage design assignment i had had for a graphic design class during college. i had had an idea for a hand-drawn web-page. i had drawn all the different elements for the page, but i'd never gotten around to putting it all together as an actual page. i came across it all tonight and i still think they're fun. so here ya go.
from the same old class.

something from the same graphic design class i'd had in college. used actual sin city images by Frank Miller himself and came up with the text myself. the quote i refer to was by harlan ellison. came across it on a disk recently. 's fun. enjoy.
