Revisiting something I did before but lost steam, so do-over rule applied
charcoal and graphite...
think I am having a little bit of trouble with the skulls competing with her, does any one have any suggestions how to work through that?
Once done I plan on using it as an underpainting in painter... if I can manage to scan it and put it back together without a major problem.
Crits & suggestions coveted
Thanks for lookin
wow thats good
my only crit would be her right leg doesnt seem like its drawn correctly for the boot... you probably didnt understand what I meant =b
From our viewpoint look at her right leg and the boots, now imagine her leg //without// the boot, her leg is going to one direction but the boot is going the other direction. hope ou understand what Im trying to say (sorry for my poor grammar)
I like the detail it looks very nice
but I didnt completly understand on what your trying to say about the skulls.... oh well....
I want to start off saying thats not what I expected! Interesting interpretation of the wicked witch and those creepy monkeys. (Baboons?)
Crits: Her bottom lip looks a bit off to me, it might be the shadow under it? I wish I could offer more on that, I'm still trying to grasp why it looks odd. Maybe the dark line?
As far as the skulls, I don't notice a lot of contrast between her and the skulls, at least where her form is meeting them. Would she throw a shadow upon them? Could you darken the skulls up slightly in the area behind her to set her off from them perhaps?
I keep going back to the monkeys, for some reason I imagine them with drool and spittle, rabid, scary. This is totally a personal preference, I'd love to see them more.. vicious, exaggerated even.
Great job so far! I can not wait to see what you do with this in painter!
Don't forget to read the stickied FAQ's before posting
Worked some on the lip, leg (mainly the boot was goin off, too wide and the lines seemed to lead my eye wrong once you pointed it out Vallera... Skulls I worked a bit as far as trying to contrast, tough because so much of her costume is dark too. Color should solve that
Monkeys are kind of a mix between Drill, Maqaque, and Golden tamarin... Maybe a bit long in the arm like a gibbon too... since they are winged, I figure why not mix species and make em creepy as hell, I stopped short of having them slinging poo.
Anyhow, I think I am done with this stage... Matter of fact with the amount of fixative I sprayed, I think I am done whether I reconsider or not LOL
guess I will post it over in finished as well..
