whoah, yeah, this rocks. man, i really dig your style. the hat of that guy is great. the thing in his right hand (a statue or something like that?) looks very flat, though...
I love your high level creativity sketch book pages!
Keep up the good work! :chug:

stephen, as usual, your stuff scares the hell out of me..........no really it does.
Just kidding man, the ball point pen stuff is coming along well. How about charcoal though? Your more than ready to start hitting up those charcoal studies. I know you love your sketchbook, but don't use it to avoid what you need to be doing to get better. Hope to see you next semester.
yes yes the charcoal studies i know it., man i really need to get those charcoal studies out...
some thumbnails, don't know how to design

Hey man, this is my first post, and I just have to say, youre stuff is really excellent. I especially enjoy those ship concepts, seeing the way you construct them is inspiring. Great art, keep it up!
and not sure how to finish this one yet, another bloody mess,
still trying to progress to get as good as Lukias, think i've got three months left,

Yo man wassup!
Nice ship designs, I can see you excelling in that real quick.
Your rendering is definitley getting alot better and the last few also show a much better understanding of anatomy, you just have to watch your lengths.
For instance, this last fella, depending on how you look at it.. his arms and legs are too long or his torsoe is too small.. as with the head.
If I were you I'd be getting a hold of the basics first.. quantity over quality. Just my opinion.
Keep going hard mate, looking forward to your progress posts
havent' posted or drawn anything really in awhile,
Lukias -thnaks for the advice someday I'll catch up...
11.22.03[friendly:: pet monster]
self crit-arms don't fit,
parts need better construction, legs dont attach properly
shadows off, shadows shapes dont add to design or emotional content of piece
underbelly needs more rolling tone
Keep it up, we're gonna compare in 3 months.
Some of the spaceship design looks really great, good stuff overall, and the horns on the last creature design is just great. I wish my sketchbook looked as interesting as yours.
So, keep them coming it´s looking good.
hey man nice to see you back at it!!
you definitly own, despite what you say. we all can grow though, i agree with you on that. youre sketches are inspiring !
hopefully my rendering will one day be up there with the likes of you lukias and many others!
dam forget about ships ur creatures and characters rock!! man keep this up dude, awesome stuff.
more coming soon,,,
anyone have advice for taking thumbnails to finishes?
Last edited by StephenC; December 8th, 2003 at 07:32 AM.
Stepehen, most of the values are in place and it is a finished sketch, scan or photocopy your thumbnail, enlarge it and go another round on it. Or scan it in, and add color to it in photoshop. Since you have the shape and cut lines its just little things to add if you want to. Shapes are reading well tho. Hope that helps.
LBB- thanks for the words of wisdom, i'll see ya in Lemen's class
Thanks to everyone for the kind words,
tried it again, still too messy,,,..

still a bit messy...
started to paint it, but then realized , I don't know how....where are those tutorials?

Messy? The second spaceship concept is just - BANG!
Stephen, that last one kicks major booty, you should take it to afinish and see wat happens. Just scan it into photoshop and play around with it. My only thing is to work on the elipses at the joint where the shoulder meets arm. Now i am inspired to draw robots!
Good shit man.
This is good stuff man. The perspective on that spaceship seems a tiny bit off to me but I dig the cut lines you put in there. That robot is cool but where are his feet?!
As for finishes, I'm struggling with that too. I suppose it depends upon what is keeping your from finishing. Is it technical or do you just get bored with a design or seomthing else?
See ya in class.
that last robotic design killed me, I want to see it in a more finished/rendered form!
