This is my first post here....just looking for critique on my work and how to improve my skills. Thanks! 8)
i like the paint job -- but he appears to have his hands directly attached to his upper arms!
Power is nothing without intelligence.
This is a very stylized piece. To make the most of your personal style, I would suggest improving your knowledge of anatomy, collecting good books and references and drawing from life as much as possible. With a challenging pose like this, I would definitely grab a friend and take photos or do reference sketches, even using myself if I had too (you don't have to be buff to get the general pose).
Also, stronger attention to how light and shadow fall across the characters physique would help to strengthen the image (his face, though lacking features by design, could be better defined by light and shadow. It looks fairly underedeveloped right now.)
Other wise, the rendering style is impressive - personally I like how the horns disappear into each other at the tips. What software did you use?
I hope this was helpful. Keep at it
*Cubicle Escapee*...I took the red pill.
I dig the viberant colors and the style you're going for. I think the horns are over-illuminated
Looks like an overuse of dodge and burn.
Thanks for all the great and helpful comments. I used photoshop 7 for the coloring. Also, I meant to use alot of color dodge and burn to emphasize the gap between light and dark in the obvious sense (gritty/chaotic) and also the spiritual.
i think this is good, but you should work on your anatomy, and instead of using burn and dodge, color with diffrent shades of whatyour working on, and blur and smudge them, so they dont look like you burned and dodged it, Also the horns looks liketheres to much light on them, might wanna tone it down.
Yea I'm a bit out of practice as far as anatomy is concerned. I've been focusing alot of my time on 3D for the past 5 yrs....thanks for the helpful comments! I'll post more when I get time to create new stuff.
Power without perception is spiritually useless and therefore of no true value.
