Hey buddy awesome stuff. I like your style. It is very renaissance like with all the draping clothes...
wow, these are awesome. i really like the digital stuff you posted a while back. these drawings have the same feeling of speed and gesture.
oh sh*t, this is going to be one hell of a thread... Awsome work you got, love them colors you posted a while back in the finished section. Now I realy feel like sketching, thanks for sharing
you dont know how happy i am to see you starting a thread. seeing your paintings on the forum has always been special to me and now i get to see the method behind the madness.

nice line quality. keep it up!
Kekai your sketchbook is INSANE! you need to scan in and upload the entire thing... seriously. I can assure you that it'll go into the "Best of CA" section of the site.
Very impressive stuff! Your linequality is amazing, man!
Keep 'em coming!
hey, glad to see you posting in here, too. I remember your last two characters from the thunderdome, I think.
excellent fluid shapes with very strong overall designs.
When you have drawings on facing pages, do you spray-fix them?
Man I am so glad you're posting again. I love you're work . In fact you're one of the main reason I started painting in the digital realm. So thanks for taking the time to show use you're work
Yay, I got all excited to see your name in the DSG section. I remember your awesome collection of digital paintings.. it's neat to see how that style translates over to just a pencil. I hope you keep this updated regularly. It's definitely inspiring. You must draw alot, I remember seeing one of your digital works had the name "dude551.jpg"...while the ones from not that long before were all numbered in the 20s,30s,and 40s... do you really produce hundreds upon hundreds of digital works like that?? I really need to dedicate more time.
yes, im glad u started one of these, ill have to hit up the sketch night, ive been busy with tryin to graduate AIS and find work but hopefully ill see u in person again, keep up the good work. lates
Nathan Campbells 3 steps to drawing like a pro, 1. Sketch 2. shade. 3. highlights and ur done
hey thanks for replys guys. its nice doing sketching again.
bwkeogh-nope, i just leave it as is. im lazy like that.
sinix-i try to draw alot, but the dude551 was a naming convention i made for when i re-paint a speedpaint. its just the another name for a speedpaint when it stop being a speedpaint because i took a day of it and tried to bring it to another level. but, it does feel like i drew 500 pics when im trying to find a good idea!
scottg-thanks, glad to be of service. just please learn from my mistakes!!
skrubbles & gasmask-hope to see you guys at the next sketch meet.
did a few little landscape comps over the past week, i noticed my sketchbook had very little of this. took the ideas i roughed out and did a bunch of speed paints of them. 1hr and half average, done in ps7.
some sketch pages
and the quick paints.
amazing work. your sketches are just magnificent! just mind-blowing. i hope to see some of them in color soon. keep it coming!
Whoa. These sketches are awesome! All of the pencil work especially, I'll definitely be checking your sketchbook out regularly. Wish I had something more relevant to say, but I just love all of these.
Fucking Cake...I hate you! Those quick paintings are really fucking awesome. They blow me away...nice composition/color/lighting. Freaking top knot stuff. Damn it, kid!
PS: How come there are only two fucking reply in this amazing work?

I like thumbnail to paint technique! you keep a lot of the original spontaniety.
This really is inspiring to me. Please keep it up.
man, i love the way you use 2 pages of your book, and shade with the flat of your pencil. such simple things pulled off so eloquently...i look forward to drawing with you more.
I self-published a book on the fundamentals of drawing from life.
i love you. post more. big stick is my fav. the quick paints are very nice, very loose but clean and easy to read. please dont stop posting.

Real nice Character concepts and environments
I await your next post...
These concepts are badass...
Those speedpaints are fantastic....MORE!!!!!
thanks guys! somemore character doodles and whatnots.
i missed all these updates!
hot damn! great work man...you have such a vivid imagination, very inspiring!
I wont fail now
dang, you're a busy guy! great stuff. I don't know if it's just because they're quick doodles, but sometimes the anatomy of the faces is a little off. The torso of that demon guy with the horns is excellent tho.
