Even better than I remembered :::: you are most definitely smokin' better stuff than me!! :::: keep it up your imagination is smokin' as well!!!
Flip: hi man! thanks for the comment. yes some of my poses need work, and my composition could be better. thanks again i will try harder next time.
codakromek: sup!! holy shit man, thanksfor thekind words, great post. i enjoyed reading it. the workshop was awesome, inspiring as f**k!!! the doodle creature will get the digi treatment when time permits, to much stuff is on my mind right now... ie: last man standing thunderdome!! hahah. still trying to come up with an idea.
glad u like the britt redesing and the explode digi greyscale.
ihavent actually tried creating my own brushes just yet, i twiddled around with brush settings though. thanks for the suggestion. i will give it a try.
once again thanks for dropping by, your sb has some wonderful sketches. u are welcome to critique in my sb any day.
hurricane: thanks man, very fuun to look at your book. keep up the good shit.
novice: hi dude!, thanks for the kind words, it means a lot.
mentler: thanks for the kind works i really appreciate it them. your stuff still kicks my ass to the moon.
thanks again guys for the comments and suggestions!
some doodles, sketches and wips. unfinished layout messing around, sci fi style
slapped on some colores
found an old unfinished sketch in the deep crevices of my hardrive, popped it up in painter, and voila.
old digi sketch i found on my harddrive, changed the head, and worked on some other areas.
Last edited by clogik; December 22nd, 2005 at 02:37 PM.
yummy man... I post fuckn' bic pen scribbles and you blast away with full painted works. Juicy
As for the horizontal sci-fi layout I had a thought. Right now there are 2 figures really close in the foreground. I think you should leave one (possibly the guy on the right) and drop the other guy into the middleground (make him a bit smaller) - You could almost break the composition up with the 3 guys like this - foreground dude - middleground dude and that background dude.
I would also (and I know this is just a sketch) reduce the contrast on the background guy. Leave the darkest shadows for the figures closer to the foreground and lighten up the values on the background guy.
I'm only giving all this crit, because with your designs and character development this could be an awesome piece.
Your last to sketchbook posts have been so good...hard to find crits
keep going man...nothing can stop this roll your on!
loomer- hey man thanks for the constructive crits. ill make changes and see how it works. you are right about the middle ground guy being too dark....and the foreground dudes competing with each other.
also i still need to work on a design for the crashed ship in the background..
thanks again man. you rock.
heres a random head..... experimenting with scratchboard... and impasto oil brush for textures. adjusted skin colors to be more brownish sepia toned... his skin tones were midnight bluish before.
Last edited by clogik; December 22nd, 2005 at 02:36 PM.
lots and lots of awsome digital stuff. The asian lady study gets my vote. You are using painter right?? Interesting results with the scratchboard. I am not a painter man, though looking at your stuff, I might give some serious thought about trying it out. Post more.
hey bumskee, thanks for dropping by.. glad u like asian girl studie. i had fun with her. most of these are done in painter, then tweaked in photoshop. but yea i use both. depending on how i feel. they both have many things to offer.. you should give painter a go, its defintely good to experiment in.
hey, CLogik nice update man.. Im def. agreeing with Loomer on his comments... Although I think yu could possibly make it work by moving the guy on the right a bit more to the right and make him blurry and put the focus on the midle guy.. guy in the left... Make the dude in the back ground much smaller... possible adjacent to the crashed ship.. that way also you can give a nice sense os scale... the second piece of the protrait looks like it could use more work... other then pallette issues the most blunt thing are his eyes.. there on the far ends of his sockets... Un;ess it was meant to look that way... he looks like he has two wondering eyes... i would also try and give his clothing another color even though you may not be trying to go for a refined look I think it could benefit from it overall... Great stuff man.. i really like the sketchbook page and the bot...! keep up the good work man... hopefully we could start working on some group shit later on after this TD thing is ve.. or until who ever in our group is participating is knocked out.. Look foward to seeing more work...
vigo--heya thanks for the suggestions. as for the random portrait dude... yes i agree some pallet issues and the crazy wandering eyes were purposely done.. why u may ask? i dunno its a stylistic choice, i wasnt trying to make anything acccurate this was done to try to test my bs ability with scratchboar digi tech. hehh . ...
when tdome is done we should all do a sketch trade off, that would be nice. i also posted in your sb. thanks for stoppin by.
damn you got a gang of stuff going on since i was last here ! looking real good man ! this one inparticual i like a ton i dnno what exactly but its got tons of flavor !http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...encreature.jpg send me a poster !
the skratch board tool is tasty shink that bastard down to tiny tiny and you can cut in and hit some hatch flavor for that pencil flavor .. try that barbwire one to inject some texture and top it off with a little sargent brush and squishy oil or wet acrilic ! oh crap im geting out of hand ..any way looking great man exlent expreaments !!!!!
Naw - YOU rock clogik
- I like the new portrait guy...and I love the wandering eyes..
Hard to tell from the pic, but this figure has eyes's going East and West...I love it.
Also really impressed you got that earthy tone to fit with the brighter colored background...I've tried that and it didn't look as good. Makes me wanna try again...
sketch trade after T-dome sounds sweet
I must say THANK YOU for being there
I have a lot to learn from you.
'TRUTH SETS YOU FREE"
Hi Clogik. Your anatomy work is looking really good. I'd try a few different subjects though. Things like some environments or vehicals maybe.
Infinitum-hey thanks man, my anatomy is ok.. still got to practice with hands, feet, distribution of weight yada yada yada.. i have done some environments here and there but not much. havent done any vehicles either so thanks for the suggestion.
Mecha Hate Chimp: hello! thanks for the comment, glad u like my lifedrawings....do u do life drawings much? its a good way to change things up. thanks again. dig your paintings.
ashemoto:thanks dude! too kind man. more stuff on the way!
loomer: funny how i never heard wind of odd nerdrum until i saw his name under your ms profile..i was like who the fuck is "odd"?..i typed his name in google and bada bing bada boom... instant fan. his work is fraggin sweet.
liam c: sup man? thanks for the tidbits. ill send you a complimentary large glossy photo of mr. alien dude....haha.....cheers.
heres some gestures, doodles, sketches that were sleeping in my other books.
and heres the digi study... these are fun. could be tighter in sum areas.
dig the lines on the last post
this one is fucking awesome http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...lodingwhat.jpg
did you already say you didn't write graff?
"Don't look into car headlights and freeze, because you'll either get run over or shot!'"
WOw, man.. thats awessome that digi study.. I love it.. she has this snear about her... like "what he fuck do you want?" ! I also like the page with perspective on it... I have to get down with that myself... not much to crit this time around....! Look foward to seeing the new update..! so, Brit is the new member of our happy family??
Love your pencil work!!, nice quick sketches and the marker ones are great. Big update.. I really envy how you do all the face studies and make it look so damn good too. Awsome, love the digi study, her hair looks slightly long though after forehead.. love the lighting on it!
Great stuff mate, the eyes on the asian girl just freaked me out (i hope its not your gf).
Love your work. You'll have to teach me some watercolor shit someday.
real sharp work here man, your digi stuff is gret, but i love your trad art the most - great use of mixed media, and your pen \ pencil studies are superb.
Keep it up!
hey guys thanks for all the comments!! i appreciate them... i will get back to individual responses later. but heres a quick update of a digi done in painter with some progression shots..
hahahaha, cool !!

VIKING: BATTLE FOR ASGARD
THE OTHER BROTHERS
wooooho, man! Awsome stuff in here! Seems that your imagination is endless...keep em comin' dude! Noting more to say about, simply great!
"Hi " so inappropriate yet gives it that kick. it's kinda silly, you should have included in your final piece. Love the details on the head and the colours. THe back of the head looks slightly tilted though.. and would have been good to see more details on the hand. bah I am just whinging, you know I love your work.
too cool bro. One of my favorites of yours.
it seems like you had a lot of fun with this one, and in turn it is fun to look at.
- oh - the new FourTet album is pretty sweet...i think you'll dig it
Hey, man.. nice progress on the last one.. Is that going to be the final version? I would love to see the design on the body pushed a bit further to match whats going on with the head... Also some well defined dark spots within that nice mechanical design you have would go nicely and give it some real POP! Keep up the good work man... Hows your TD piece coming along??
vigostar: hello, this was done as speedy sort of sketch, not quite sure if im going to take it past where it is right now. too lazy. haha. i know for sure that it could be extremly tighter in areas but i tend to slack off speedy digi doodles especially when i get to certain point.. maybe i will render out the hand in the foreground a bit more, but i really wanted to give focus to his face.
as for td entry--i dunno man, i would like to say that im finished with my peice but after looking at it i seriously think i could have came up with something more dynamic. lately have picking at it here and there like a dead possum...adding tiny bits of paint marks, and tightening up certain areas.. i think im done... but i tend to noodle around with paintings... we will see if its up to snuff, im know for a fact that i can take the peice even further.
loomer--waaadduuuppp! thanks a bunch man. you motivate me. i have heard of fourtet but have yet to pick up an album....i heard sum tracks off of amazon sounds preetty sweet.
bumskee: sup dude. man you motivate me as well with your sketchbook and all, seeing lots of improvement in your work. thanks for the crits, i was about to leave the "hi " things in the last shot, pretty inaaporpriate but it does add a bit of humour and sillyness that contrasts well with teh grimey subject matter. haha. its like a 1-2 combo punch.
Gloominati- thanks man, mucho
hurricane-tanks a lot dude. i will post more.
Eriboss: thanks man, i like my trad stuff better too..still constatnly trying to refine my digi technique.
Mallao: sup dude, watercolors are still pretty tuff in my book. my advice is to jump right in and experiment with the tough-to-master- medium.
Crash: hello, thx a bunch. hope i didnt freak you out to much witht the eyes!
no shes not my gf, if she was i would be the happiest man alive, and i wouldnt be posting digi portraits but rather full nude studies. i kid i kid.
vigostar: thanx. glad u like girly studie.... she can kick anyones ass.....get at them perspective drawings it will suit you well....they are pretty tough though cause i cant draw lines entirely straight.
Fellah: thnx for dropping by. yea she could use a hint of specular to indicate some gloss and reflective surface in her eyes. i like it as is though. cheers!
dashi: hello dashi, no i dont write graff, i tried some of it in middle school and early years of highschool (not on walls, in sketchbook), but pretty terrible at it. but i did look at a lot of graffiti stuff and artwork in early late middle school-early highschool. so there is some residual influence, some but not much. thanks for droppin a line.
some sketchs on the way. but i first i got to scan those buggers. cheers to all who dropped by .....each of u guys deserve a beer, all on the house
Yo, good stuff going on. The elf eared broad and gothic chick are hottt. Keep it up. U should try to finish some of these before school starts.
King whut, King style...once i start camoflauging it, i don't even think you'll be able to read it.
thanks for dropping by. glad u like dem girls. yes i agree i gots to finish some of these before school begins, but i still have to find a cure for laziness..
updates on the way.
recent sketch at bookstore
sketches that were sleeping in my other book
boring tree quickies
trying to do more enviro studies...these take lots of patience
some lady asked me if i was a professional when she saw me painting this, i was like huh? no im just a student, but she told me the house i was painting used to be an eye sore-- but they remodeled it, something about the house grabbed my eyeballs. granted, the painting looks like ass crap, but i think i captured the likness of the scene, mood, time of day. etc...
Last edited by clogik; December 22nd, 2005 at 02:43 PM.
Great set of sketches, strong and bold use of colors in some, and others, the nice mix of medium and figures are rather captivating. ^_^9 Keep it up.
These are hot man!!!!!!!!! your sketches are really good, nice shading and the whole page just flows..
The enviros, good stuff, love it. Going good with the values. The last one is a bit crude, but you are right about the mood and the likeness, Love how you did the cars.
bumskee: hey man thanks, too kind man.
yes for the enviros that last one is rather rough and raw but the painting was fairly small so i wasnt trying to go for a super rendered out look..plus i was trying to break in the medium i was using i had never used acrylics to paint from life...but i am familar with them..just experimenting with a diiferent approach to broaden my abilities. glad u like the cars, iwanted to spend more time on this painting but i figured it was time to get the hell out of there after an hour or so.
im trying to do more of those enviro studies...so more of these later.
mayshing: heya thanks for dropping by, glad u like some of them sketches. i am fond of using bold colors... cheers and more to come!
dude those lseepy sketches are rocking man.. i love the first one.. Like a crazy melded something of a madjiggins!!! keep up the great work.... othing but praise from me this time around.. thanks for sharing...
sweet man...I love those environments..Reminds me I need to do more of those. Maybe I should actually leave the house once in awhile.
- I like the sleepy sketches..
I REALLY like the one with the figures with the wings...but not just individually. As a whole composition I'm really diggin' how everything is laid out..Might be cool to do a paint over in Painter or something. It would be an unconventional composition, but it could work in the right hands...like yours!
can't wait to see your T-dome entry man!
Great! Diggin' those enviros, man. Especially that park. Good work on the girl on this page: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...782/oldie2.jpg. Noticed she looks like the last two gals you made for sketch trade. Is she someone you know from life that you use for reference? Or just a style you prefer?
Keep filling this up!
quick update: demon dude. hammer me will ya?>
(took down because its bleh)
edit: here sum croppies
Last edited by clogik; December 22nd, 2005 at 02:45 PM.
hey, man... I really liked this entry... it reminds me a bit of a vampire character.. it has that feel to it... If your looking for a crit... I would have to say that his pose is a bit weird? Why did you create him like that? is he fighting someone, running from someone or thing? its just a bit unclear.... I also like that shade of pink you used for the background.. I think this piece reads more like three seperate drawings.. one for the main character full body, the head shot then the background.. and that castle is also unattached.. personally i would scrap it and create more of an enviromental feel... like clouds or the treaks that you have already... Good luck. i hope to see you make it into round two!
i really liked this entry...and was especially drawn to the clothing design. Did a beautiful job on that.
Just from a stylistic standpoint (and this all just my opinion) - what would have been nice for the figure (and this is probably a little cliche) is too give him a really tall appearance. I think perhaps his legs look little thick..It would be cool to have that big, bulky top half, and then really slender legs. I just think his overall shape would command a little more presence then.
- otherwise really nice job...his evil face is totally wicked
Past several updates are outstanding <><> you have definitely moved up a notch <><> congrats!!! Keep it up <> saw you were dropping off the edge and since I had not stopped by in a while I thought I would take a look <><> very pleasant surprize indeed!
Your works looking very good Clogik. I like that last one. I'm not sur about the screaming face though, I prefer the background character. Looking good though. Keep it up.
Thanks for your comments on my post! I checked out your portfolio and all the sketches on the past few pages and your stuff is really tight. I'm very much a fan of your guesture sketches!
Lukavi-thanks man, the girl u are referring to is just a style i prefer, maybe shes my ideal girl or something thats why her face keeps showing up in my sketchbooks.
Vigo- yes I was trying to achieve a dark vampire demon mood. So I drew inspiration from vampire stuff… yes the pose is a tad funky, this was prolly the hardest part for me trying to come up a with a dynamic pose( I still need to work on that, some guys can pull It off with ease)…I did about 10-15 thumbnail sketches and mini sketch of poses and I think the smaller sketches captured more energy than the final pose…I guess it didn’t translate well… I created him like that because I was trying to go for an commanding type pose with some subtle motion, like he is about ready to do battle, with whomever crosses his path…now that I thnink of it me thinks it would have been better if there were was another dude he was fighting . I shoul d have shown him stabbing another guy or something of that nature. Glad u like the colors.
-for the composition I was going for a montage look incorporating different elements similar to a video game character illostration and the like -- just trying something different….i know it’s a bit unconventional but I thought thatthis composition would work well with my demon theme..~~~~and the castle Is bleh that came out of my ass could’ve use more work.
Thanks for the stopping by.
Loomer- glad u like the clothing design.. now that u mentioned I knew I could have exaggerated him a bit more especially with his upper body…dammit …..and for the thickness of the legs I like thick legs. So there. Haha.
**ah well next time.maybe one day I will do a better version of this character..
bumskee: thanks man. Yes it looks unnatural cause im sucky. Thanks for dropping by.
Mentler: thanks man u put a smile on my face! means a lot coming from you. please stop by for more. Thanks!
Infiintum: yes the screaming face is an aquired taste, thnx fer droppin by.
Flaskpost: thanks man!
Gabby: Hello? thanks so much for dropping by .. it means alot to me i really dig your stuff. drop by again sometime. thnx.
heres some enviro studies
marker and pen
marketplace, testing my mood tech.
fun page, page caught some reflection from the scanner because of the heavy leads and slightly warped page.
thats it for now folks, more on the way later.

dude you knocked the cover off the ball with the last two especially that veggy room.. wow, very impressed... I started a thread for our group where we can post our group assignments and thing.. heres the link http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=49755
NICE - I love the 1st one with all these little observations
a traffic light here..some person walking there...some wierd shit over there..
-marketplace rocks..I guess I always picture markets with people all over the place, but to do just an interior..you nailed it. Definetly looks like some of the dingy markets i have been in
dig the last page too....sexy legs!
awwwwwww.. clogik... mate, marketplace painting is amazing.. Nice mood and the lighting is superb.. nice painting man.. that in PS or painter? or is it traditional? man I really envy how you do all the stuff in traditional just as much as digital.. marker sketch is sweeet, I had a go at marker.. it's one confusing medium..
I am with loomer with the legs. nice..
Wow man...I must have missed your updates. You've been working pretty hard. I love that environment, the study of the girl and your TD piece. THey all rock. A suggestion on the environment, though...There is a water reflection on the right that I didn't notice at first but then relized. You might want to make take that mirror effect down somehow so the perspective reads a little more clearly...and the fan in the upper right seems a little funky...like the wings are a little thick and too bent. I don't mean to be so picky....I just see a lot of potential in that piece and I think it would look good in a portfolio with the right adjustments. Awsome work.
britt- sup man? where the heck have you been? been real busy or what? the other group members are begging for your precise crits anyways thanks for stopping by your crits are right on target..the fan screwed me up i didnt have the patience to draw it anymore since this was from life so i just said screw it but ill try to make changes when i get the chance.
bumskee: thanks man! this was done mostly in pshop with ball point pen for original lines. and im glad u like the legs on that girl for the marker, yea its kinda weird especiialy with ball point pen since the marker ink makes it bleed, i would suggest using it with a gel pen or one of those hi-tech pens really work well with markers... with markers you have to lay down your strokes a little bit quicker...but i really have no method of using them...
loomer: thnx a bunch, the actual market place wasnt too dingy but i made it more dingy in my study, and there were some people... i actually sketched them on the sides of my sb...im thinking of doing a fish market. hooo weee
vigo: thnx a bunch.
heres a quick study... trying to work looser and quicker...im still quite slow though because i nit pick most of the time.
more on the way.
Last edited by clogik; December 22nd, 2005 at 02:35 PM.
this stuff is blowing my mind!
I love that last one! I'm tempted to say don't touch it...like a loose oil painting, that the creator would be tempted to bring to a higher finish, only to render the soul out of it!
It looks like you did it in a flash...a lot of "quick" painitngs have that appearance, but then I discover that the artist took 10 times longer to give it that look. I wouldn't worry about speed just yet...quality is a priority now..and you've been delivering brutha man!
nice lighting man.. my right arm is stuffed so i am typing with my left.. just wanted to say I love the lighting, and just realised how beautiful ur colours are. Nice mix of warm and cool colours, skin tone is superb.! should post more of these dude~.
Nice one man... I bet she's thinking "hmm.. its about time for a shaving." I know because I do the same thing every morning.JK Looks awsome, man
hey, man very nice.. those chickas look really nice indeed... im going to assume that yu werent going for the perfect reflection right?? you wanted the person to resemble her but, not be her??? i really dont have any crits other then I think there should be a pretty prominate shine on the glass being that theres a pretty large light source on her head... I think it would create more mystery as well.... very nice dude...
FINNALLY a FOURTH PAGE! sheesh takes me forever to fill this thing up .
i have liek 5-10 pages to scan and some digis hopefull ill get it up tommorow. 8)
vigostar: sup man, this was a test on value, color and my digi quickness (which i still suck at), the girl was from the six days vid.. so the light and reflections are pretty accurate i think.. some of it doesnt read though like the scracthes on the mirror....in the scene where i reffed, her reflected face , gets pretty distorted up to the point where she doesnt look like herself because all the smudghing is layered on her face. i could tighten this sucker up but i would have to throw doown some hours out of my pocket.
britt: hahah you are absolutely right man she is shaving her hairy armpits.. haha... nahh shes looking at a tatoo she got from her boyfriend...i think it was like 420 err something...thats whaat the scracthcs
on the mirror was too i think..
bumskee: thanks bud! these studies are fun todo! did u stuff your right arm with cotton?
loomer: thanks man. haha u r tottally right about that..it looks like a flash but in essence its actually more than that i just dont know how some people can do things really quick....im so slow...i should just quit right now. i think ill be a farmer instead. haha ...
glikster: thanks man!
sum crap sketches on the way.
