Hello all. As part of a personal training regimen I've decided to paint 90 hours in 90 days (or less) outside of work. I'm about 15 hours into it so far so I'm going to dump what I've done so far and then update as I go along.
Hope you enjoy watching as much as I'm enjoying drawing!

Hours 1 and 2 - Opening up
Hour 3 - Looked at the image for 10 seconds, closed it, and then tried to re-draw it.
Hours 5 and 6 (Channeling Brian Sum)
Hours 7 and 8
Hour 9: Figure Sketches. Way outta practice here.
Hour 10: Exercise wherein I look at a photo for 10 seconds, then attempt to re-draw it without reference. A dive helmet

Self discipline is a great skill to have, keep it up, i really like everything you've posted.
Thanks! In doing this I've so far found that the post-work apathy I've had in the past seems to disappear, so long as I put at least an hour into drawing/painting. Even if I'm really not feeling it once I get past the hour I'm usually relaxed and inspired to continue, either with a new sketch/doodle or with the one I'm working on.
Hour 11: character silhouettes!
Hour 12: Dicking around with custom shapes:
Experiments in spaaace
Experiments in aysymmetry
That helmet under Hour 4 kicks major ass!

Thank you, that's very encouraging!
I'm re-designing some ships from a favorite game of mine from my youth. A Mac-only game called "Ares" by Nathan Lamont. Going to draw a bunch of profile silhouettes before going to a final concept.
Hour 17 - Cantharan Light vessels
Really nice project, I think hour 13 is my favourite purely because its more of a scene than a design.
Ships designs look really nice though.
Inkthyosaur - Thanks, i'll probably be doing more full scenes in the future!
For now, just a few more sketches
Hey man, I really like your designs. You've got me curious though, do you also work with doing art and designs? It'd be a shame if you didn't.
Thank you! I do work - currently as a Concept Artist. I'm looking to improve my craft however, as I feel i've stagnated a bit.

I've gotta figure out a different way about coloring stuff in. Process adjustment needed.
Hour 0 Because these came from about a week before I started this self-assignment. Included because I think I'll be working some of these up in the future!
Sweet. I loved Homeworld's concept art. Rob Cunningham and Jon Aaron Kambeitz did some amazing work. The Chris Foss inspiration was evident.
technically this took me a bit over an hour, due to the initial sketch being done during a lunch break while watching a few of Scott Robertson's vids.
But we'll say its only one hour, again for the sake of productivity!!
More homeworld love!
Hey zombatt, i really like your linework man! Some of the colored designs or those where you work with value blocking could look a tad cleaner around the edges, also the colored version of the schooner has this jagged edges....just work around with the marque tool to get nice and clean contours. Doesn't take long and it looks better.
The last two are awesome!
Another one before I hit the sack
