You don't say anything about what you want to accomplish, but it looks like you're drawing this as a gift/comission for some fantasy geek dude who wants a cool portrait of himself with a pet dragon... can't you make him look a little more awesome then? Put him in som sagely wizard robes and some less modern looking glasses, give him a mighty beard! I don't know
It kind of looks a little ....lame... with this modern guy in his T-shirt wearing a cloak and a dragon, you know?
Execution looks good to me though! Except that the fire on the dragons tail doesn't seem to cast any light on the guy.
You need to put them somewhere, give them a background - it could be quite subtle (bookcases etc)
You really need to sort your lighting out - it will help sell the forms.
