I didn't want to post it in the finally finished thread as I think there's still work to be done, don't know what exactly, so please, any critique is welcome
This thread http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...man-microcomic with the same content as this one doesn't appear to be working, and I cannot access the thread controls to delete it myself so please remove it. I'm sorry if I've caused an inconvenience.
Nice rendering...can't tell if I'm looking at 3D or not...a bit too clean perhaps. The guns and clips don't seem to be casting a shadow, and there is no indication of the foam recesses that they are resting in. The lower half seems composed awkwardly, with the briefcase just spilling off the bottom.
I like how I had to discover the reflection of the red-tie assassin.
i like the 1-2 narrative idea. i dont know what the snakey things are inside the loop of the garotte, they dsitracted me a bit but i dont play the game so its probably obvious to a player.
EDIT oh ok its a logo also on the guns. in that case maybe make it look more bonded into the siurface, at the moment it looks like two small plastic things sitting on the suitcase with the strangling wire.

That thing inside of garotte is Hitman's logo.

DPFX, the clean look is something I've been struggling for a while now, I'm trying to loosen it up a bit...
The recesses are there, I've darkened them so they should be visible now and also added slight diffuse shadows (didn't want to go with the sharp ones, it seemed awkward).
The composition was awkward, but with the whole suitcase it pulls the focus away from the fiber wire. It's slightly improved now I hope.
Velocity, I added some reflections in the logo and changed the reflection on the suitcase, I think it looks better now.
Thank you for the comments
My eye really finds the placement of the lower briefcase awkward. I think the garrote would be quite apparent either way, with the its great value difference to the case, and the curvy lines framed by the straight lines. I think the viewer's eye would zero right in on it.
Judging by the shadows cast on the 'table' by the case, your established light source would, I think, give us some shadows from the items in the case.
Perhaps the edges of the recesses could get some specular on the edges to give us a sense of depth?
Maybe some reflected light on the 'table'?
Shouldn't we see a reflection of the handle on the case?
For the record, this is technically a really nice piece and I like the story. How did you pull this off? I'm guessing a hybrid of 3D (Maya?) and Photoshop. Nice work, in any 'case'.
