haven't really been lurking around here much since the site got an overhaul. I'm getting beat-down withdrawal. This is for the Dead of Winter EOW. It started off as a desert and then i realized that i should be working on the EOW... so it's now a tundra.
Stuff i'm liking: general vibe and placement of most of the rocks in the middle and background. Characters and vehicle placement (not the vehicle itself, thats more of a placeholder for something a lot cooler, hopefully ha).
Stuff i'm not liking: foreground ground texture and general boringness of the foreground, vehicle design.
Any insight would be great. Peace!
if its snow change the color of the snow from the rocks. Right now everything is a lighter or darker version of the same color; even the background looks like you applied a bluish color globally so the color starts in the middle of some of the rocks instead of picking colors and painting with them.
The texture is not bad for this stage, next what you can do is create your own brush from different rock pictures it it's still a desert and start adding it sparingly or overlay an image and paint on top a bit. I would add something to the lower edges so that it somewhat frames an image and helps lead our eyes even more towards the people and the vehicle. As said above, add more color and add your main light source. For the vehicle, check out this to get more inspiration: http://conceptvehicles.blogspot.com/
