with your last painting, I think you need to make the background darks, darker, not all of it, just the furthest recesses of the rock face. And with a light like that I imagine it would be casting light on the rocks above and behind? and have stronger highlights on the hands. Im not that great with it either but thats what I think.
Well today was nearly a waste on this one. I somehow didn't save it for a few hours and photoshop crashed. I managed to get a screencap of it before it poofed entirely so the lower half of the painting is all pixelated to hell. At least I didn't lose some of the work. Just have to go back in and repaint over it.
As always, any advice, please let me know.
RV - Thank you! Closer now!
RobertM - Agreed, I tried to take that into account in this version. Thank you for the pointer.
Well that was a surprise busy week. Just now getting a chance to draw.
Finished (ish will probably still tinker with it) with that oracle drawing. Also painted some tea from reference. Cause I don't drink it but I think drawing it should be therapeutic too, right?
The holiday has eaten my soul, but here's the really weird mixed bag of stuff I drew in the last two days. Some muscle studies mixed with me attempting to wrap my mind around spot blacks. Then weird creatures for another prompt on cghub that asked for a little, easily scared, nocturnal creature with three eyes and at least two small limbs for eating.
The questions I ask myself are: Why did I pick all the dudes who are gesturing around their abs as if they just appeared via genie wish? Also. What the hell is that weird cottonball thing and can it please get out of my brain?
Thank you Dennis, immensely! Here's some more, hope you like!
Reference for the muscle studies from here.
Drawing was tough today for some reason! Bah! Gestures, Limited time, limited color palette character challenge (anatomy issues abound. Fix em tonight.), more triclopseses sketches..
AllyAlbon - Photoshop . And here's some more of the squirrel dude!
Kiichi - Thank you thank you!
n1frit - Thanks! I'll hopefully be drawing more of her soonish.
Whee, that was fun.

Very cool stuff. I especially love your portraits and faces in general - really great expression to all of them. It's great that you got back into your art after so long, and I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say that we look forward to seeing you post more and more.
I really like the expressions in your last red head portraits. I also love the way you painted the hair. Keep posting!

Awesome works. Love the rendering, very painterly. The anatomy studies are looking great ! Oracle is off the charts! Moar!

Kinda limited time with family over so I have one portrait from limited reference. Wanted to solidify this new soft edged portrait style as I kinda tripped into it on accident in the first place.
Vlad74 - Thank you! I shall!

I don't know what I did to get all this attention, but TRULY it means the world. Thank you again, it keeps me going.
Doing some studies of different races. Also have some character designs that are on a different computer, I'll upload those later on. Just glad the site is working for me again.
Since so many people already complimented you on various things I will just give you a tiny idea:
How about trying some other brushes besides round and/or soft ones? Your artwork is always very clean, almost too clean and some things look too soft imo.
I'd love to see what you can achieve with a slightly more artistic and/or harder brush.
Okay I will give you a compliment anyway: great work, keep it on!
your work is amazing, especially your grasp of colour. really beautiful art.
Came here from another thread where you praised a guy's shading. I was pleasantly surprised at what was here.
You had some really nice gesture drawings early on, and your portraiture is excellent. Not sure why you were envious of anybody's lighting... you seem to have a really good grasp on most of the fundamentals. (I've always felt that lighting was relatively easy and that construction was the hardest thing... but your construction looks great).
Take care, and post more if you'd like.
