Hi conceptart! i apologize for my engrish and I hope you understeand that im just starting! im 17years old and i want to improve all i can! I will be glad if you help me
So... starting with a light study and gesture drawings.... i should make a whole lot more! i dont know how often ill update this sketchbook but i hope i get a nice timing doing it. thanks for watching!
so i got my first goal with gestures! 100 gestures! 30 sec. each i plan on doing the next 50 or 100 in 1 min each! the other one is a banana peel (if you could call THAT thing a banana peel haha!) my sister said it doesnt have the little black dots bananas have, i guess my next picture will have them....
im just starting out so im just trying to guide myself (kinda! that is) if someone has begginer excercises i will gratefully enjoy what they have to say
Heyriel-thank you so much fo the comment! i think the saturation tthing its because of the white canvas silly me maybe i should go for grey? i dont know...
OK! so ive been studying bones! but just a tiny part i also made a light study, i can notice the problem about the edges... its really difficult but its fun!
well.. then i have the 1min gestures, I think they are pretty bad (im reading hampton and vilppu books right now, i think the books are both really good)
I guess ill just have to practice more! (even if im slow at it ("-_-)...
today i didnt have much time just an hour :/ so, these are 1min each (i did maybe 60 of them), I think im getting it but my lines arent like they should be, still... i have a lot of time! well, next are the arm bones. Please critique my work!
today, i did most of my practice on paper but i dont have a scanner or a camera to post it (TT_TT)... i didnt get much digital because im slow with my tablet but its ok, im still moving! i want to undearstand form and perspective before going into anatomy, its really difficult but i think im getting the thing (i hope)
its been a while.. sadly i dont have a scanner to post everything i do.. as i like to work with pencils a lot.. but here is my digital work
going to get into heads for a while, until i see a good progress -.-" ... I want to take this slowly
not a lot to say.. just that i want to start with color but im reaally afraid of it.. i think it will be better to make a whole lot more in greyscale though.. maybe i will go for color speedpainiting later on
You’re definitely working hard. I completely understand about being afraid of using colour. Although I’m still struggling with colour I found doing basic exercises like spheres and cubes can help with getting to grips with shadows and blending etc. good luck!
siiilon- That means a lot to me! thank you! I´m just a little afraid because they usually recommend hard brushes for studies... but I feel more like sculpting when using soft brushes.. don´t know why
Today I couldn´t do much because I´m struggling with color.. It seems Impossible for me to grasp it well and I´m getting frustrated! so.. If someone has any excercise they recommend or any advice.. It will be greatly, but greatly! appreciated. here is my second attempt at color
Really nice studies, Keep it up. As for your fear of color one thing that really helps is to identity the color temperature of you light source is it warm or cool? If its warm (Reds/yellows/oranges) the shadow colors will be almost always be a cooler (Blue/purple) and vica versa, even if you don't notice it in your photo reference. If you keep that idea in mind it'll be a lot easier to retain depth and realism with color. To make it easy you can just take a swatch of your light hue, and tick it to a cooler value with the color sliders in PS. Nice job so far! I'd say that practice is starting to pay off!
Momucat-Thank you for commenting on my sketchbook.. yes.. I´ve been reading about color a lot! read betty edwards book today.. I think It was useful, just like your advice! seriosuly, you gave me more confidence
so.. here are some aberrations.. I wont stop until I´m able to do something decent!
practicing greyscale again.. I guess I´ll stick with greyscale with faces and start color with simple things.. advice greatly appreciated It because I really NEED IT!!
some anatomy studies of the arm..
these look mediocre.. I hate myself for It! I need to do more life studies...
hoping someday I willl be able to pick the colors right.. I wonder If I´m not concentrating enough.. color is such a difficult thing for me.. I see everyone doing great studies and It only makes me feel frustrated..
