Finally built up the courage to register and start a thread here.
I'm a 2D animation student from the UK, so a lot of what I'll end up uploading will revolve around my current projects and the "notes" I take during classes.
I don't know how often I'll update this thread, but I would like to start a routine and update weekly. I have developed the nasty habit of letting my sketchbook fill up for quite a while before I get around to scanning anything.
I scanned a lot of pages from my sketchbook yesterday, so I guess I could start by uploading some of them to kick this off:
Hi! Your art is lovely, I'm going to see more on your deviantart gallery! Thank you for passing by

Thank you so much, guys! I'll try to update the thread regularly!
I was trying to update it earlier this afternoon, actually, but something kept going wrong. :0 I'll try again now and see what happens...
All right! Here are a couple more that I didn't upload yesterday. A couple of pages of doodles and a quick study I did the other day. The study is somewhat flat, but I'm rather fond of it now. This is the photo I drew from.
Oh, and this is a WIP of a little something I've been working on and off during the past month. It's a gift of sorts for my little brother. I was actually hoping to finish it in time for Halloween. I have some things due in this week for uni, so I'm not sure how that will work out...
Your sketchbook is really inspiring and lovely! I love how you use all the cool colors for your sketches to change things up, I hope to see some more rough sketches with the constructive lines still in the sketches(I really love looking at how other artist go about solving different constructions and the way they think about their subject) I find them a lot more interesting than finished work.
Thank you all for the kind messages! I really appreciate it!
I ended up not having time to finish that zombie picture! It's a shame because it really is close to finished... I'll have to sit down properly sometime soon and just paint the rest. I'm finding it hard to get back into it now, since it's been so long...
Most of the work I've been doing is actually just doodles during classes, so I don't have anything incredible to show, but here are some things I've done recently:
A colour theory exercise. The image on the left is the guide I drew, and the other three are the ones where I applied the scanned swatches. 1) 5 contrasting colours, 2) 3-4 harmonious colours and 3) 3 harmonious colours and a complementary colour.
This morning during my animation class we were told to concentrate on strong poses, and really pushing it on the exaggeration. I started out a little small, but then slowly got into it after a few examples from my teacher.
And just an assortment of my favourite doodles from the past week or so:
And more monkeys! I finally settled on a design.
It'd be nice if I got around to photographing my life drawings on a regular basis... Some of them are a little stiff, but I do have some I'm pretty happy with.
Well…. Some areas could really use some work, but I’ve grown bored with this piece and will not work on it any further unless I want to use it as a portfolio piece or something. Still rather happy with the way it looks!
I had intended to finish it for Halloween… it’s a shame I didn’t get to.
The initial idea came from Watching Shaun of the Dead with my 12-year old brother. It’s a painting of us both fighting off the zombie apocalypse.
