I have an out of print model Swedish sketchbook which is perfect. it has a fairly rough and durable canvas surface to a hard cover and the canvas wraps around the spiral back so the spiral isn't bare. this makes the pages less loose and wobbly and it makes it perfect for depositing your mechanical pencil or pen inside the spiral with the clip around the canvas outside (more tricky with a bare spiral!) and has the perfect spiral diameter for my pentel mechanical pencil.
Sadly I can't find this one again and I've tried to google for covered-spiral sketchbooks but I'm lacking the terminology or I can't find any.
Mainly a 6-8" wide sketchbook with a good pencil-holder functionality is what I'm looking for.
(an elastic band closure or similar would be great too)
This was pretty close, will buy one and see if the pencil fits in there and if the spirals sticking out of the spiral cover will obstruct sliding the pencil down there. http://www.artdiscount.co.uk/product..._sketch_diary/
EDIT: strike that. left sides are lined (and shipping to sweden was £20 xC)
