Hello! Tiny, bad update. Not the best new page starter. I’m going to try and make some goals for this month so everything isn’t so overwhelming. I feel like I’ve done the opposite of improve lately. D:
I like to see the Michael Hampton studies in there. Above all figure drawing resource, his has really been the most helpful to me as it gives a concise, digestible way to take in how to construct the figure from both reference and the imagination. I'd also say that grouping your figure studies in with basic perspective study will help to push you along even more.
MrFrenik Ė Yep, his work is definitely a great help in regards to really breaking down the figure I need to look at perspective a lot more so thank you for mentioning it!
Time to get back to daily updates and also time to get back to doing some serious work. Hereís some stuff from today, Iím having scanner problems again so excuse the terrible photos. I didnít do as much as I could have done; it seems that I fell victim to procrastination. But tomorrows a fresh start. I should hopefully be starting some life drawing classes soon as well.
Just a still life today. There was more but I still canít scan, but I should be able to tomorrow
something of the things that stuck out for me amongst your collection of work is how well you render metallic surfaces. it looks really good. keep working hard =)
Hi, dropping by to say nice studies and keep it up!
Denzalan Ė Thank you!
Matcha Ė Thanks
I went to my first ever life drawing class today, I photographed a couple of the poses I did I think there was about 6 in total. And some pen studies. I did a bit more but it isnít really worth posting.
Hello! Have some of my Photoshop fail from today. Thereís a quick still life of an onion as well that made me feel slightly more positive about things. Slightly. Haha.
Tiny, bad update. I was trying to look at colour but it didn't really work. I need to stop being so unproductive during the hours I have at the weekend. There's a bit more but it isn't much better than this... I should have a lot more for tomorrow
Just this today. I was feeling quite ill so didnít get as much done as Iíd like. Iíll scan some stuff tomorrow
kevin_ - thanks for the comment Iím in a constant battle with Photoshop but Iím trying to find a technique that works for me.
Studies and stuff, with obligatory Photoshop terribleness.
A couple of quick studiesÖ
Hello! A quick update. We had to use charcoal and chalk for life drawing today which I struggled with quite a bit but it was good to try things I donít normally do. And thereís some anatomy stuff but itís not too great.
Hello Iíve been trying to get better with skin tonesÖ Then I tried one from imagination but all of my imagination stuff looks the same each time. I need to actually be creative and stop worrying that itíll be dreadful: P Updates may be a bit smaller than usual over the next week due to me allowing college work to build up and my birthday and such. Iíll still try and do as much as I can, though.
You've got great lines and the colours are decent too but pay more attention to values (how light and dark things are). You can learn them by doing black and white studies. Keep it up
Jondawo Ė Thank you! And youíre right, I seem to be incapable of painting shadows, Iíll definitely work on that!
So, turning 19 was a real kick, itís really hit me lately that this is something I really want to do. I may not have a lot of time to update over the next few days if I want to make the most of the time Iíll have drawing. But after Christmas Iíll be able to return posting more Iím going to really get on with doing the fundamentals since, as mentioned, Iím struggling with values and colour etc. Anyway, enough rambling.
Sorry for the lack of updates, I wonít bore you with reasons. Iíve planning on doing a self-portrait in Photoshop everyday this month just as a bit of a challenge, really. Iím also doing 100 faces from imagination which is actually helping quite a bit; Iíll probably post them when Iím done
So this is just a little update to show Iím still alive and drawing.
I really enjoyed looking through your sketch book, its given me some inspiration!
Rookie Sketch book My Sketchbook ^_^ Critque Wanted!
Amazing stuff! You have a great eye for color (love all the portraits) and I really like the clear lines in the figure drawings
Please take a look at my Sketchbook! <- Comments are highly appreciated and returned C:
NizhoniWolf- Thank you! Itís great to know that it can help
Heyriel- Thanks Itís nice to know my colours are looking okay because I think itís definitely one of my many weak points.
Just some Photoshop stuff today. Iíll scan some sketchbook work tomorrow Iíve been looking into what I really need to focus on, now itís just sorting out my terrible time management and really working hard.
kevin_ - Thanks for the advice; Iím definitely going to really start working on that.
Quick update. Believe it or not the portrait from imagination was an attempt to look at colours and skin tones I definitely need to start painting more from life again because I really want to get to grips with colour.
A little update. I felt I made a bit of progress today with Photoshop. I still have a long way to go with my colours, though.
you have such a nice sketchbook so far! I love the way you do faces and your pencils lines are so lovely
Keep up the good work [:
Gabyness - Thank you so much!
Just some pretty bad digital stuff. Back to more studies
Daily self-portrait. I didnít push the values as much as I could have.... I havenít been able to do as much as I would have liked today so Iíll try and make up for it tomorrow
Good studies, I makes me want to brush off my copy of Bridgeman too. In additionI would love to see some creative concepts.

ForScience Ė Thank you I will hopefully start posting some more imagination stuff.
