My name is Timothy Gulics and I am the Project Lead on the RedMist Castle Project (test site available at www.redmistcastle.com). The focus of our non-profit project is to create a polished, believable, fictional fantasy world in which to base a Role Playing Game (pen-and-paper, MMORPG, etc.) and/or other multimedia endeavours created by our development team for free distribution.
Our primary concept artist has recently moved on to another employment opportunity and we are left lacking in the areas of:
- Technical or prop design (armor/weaponry/uniforms)
- Character/creature design
- Environment/architectural design
Styling would be primarily medieval/fantasy with some occasional sci-fi influence in terms of ancient advanced technology.
This is a paid position. Our project is funded entirely out of pocket and we have a fairly strict budget as a result. Please contact me to discuss your rates.
I am looking for a freelance artist who is dedicated and willing to remain onboard with us for an extended period of time as our project progresses along, completing commissions in large batches of 10 or 20 illustrations at a time. That said, we are flexible and do not demand an artist's full attention and would be more than willing to give the artist whatever time is necessary to complete his or her more time-sensitive commissions before completing our work.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you feel that we can work together. Include samples of your concept artwork, both black & white and finished/colored pieces if applicable.
Project: RedMist Castle Project
Artwork Needed: Technical/Prop Design, Environment/Architectural Design, Character Design
Salary: Open (please contact us to discuss your rates)
All work will be arranged via contract and a NDA will be signed by the artist before work begins.
If you would like samples of what type of artwork we have now and what we are looking for in the future, I will gladly email them to you.

It certainly looks interesting. I made a shield for the game Morrowind called Lunaris, lol.
Here's a link to my Video Game mods, which are entirely for Morrowind...but you can see that I put much time into my designs and models that I make.
Cityscpaes are somewhat a specialty of mine...But I don't entirely DRAW them perse, it's usually a mish-mash of many types, some very abstract and dreamlike. I've used Terragen for base backgournds, but never bought the program so I cannot use it for commercial purposes. I use alot of 3d models and Photoshop them to make them look like drawings, or make them more polished and like paintings.
if interested in my style, please mail me at email@example.com
I work cheap and don't usually refer to myself as a professional, but I try, lol.
Portfolio and website coming soon!
Thank you to all who have replied to me via email. We are still looking for the right candidate(s), so please continue to send your resumes/samples or post links to your work here on this thread.
We're still accepting applicants for:
- Technical / Prop Design
- Environment / Landscape / Architecture Design
- Character Design
I am interested in this project. My website is www.joeart.net
"Villiany wears many masks, but none so deadly as the mask of virtue."
Thank you to all who have applied to this listing.
We are reviewing samples and portfolios as they come in and will contact you directly if we like what we see.
We will be accepting applications until July 15th 2004. After that, we will then do our final review of the best samples and test commissions before making our decision on or before July 30th, 2004.
The deadline has been extended for the following:
- Environment and Architecture Design
We will review applicants until July 30th, 2004. Our decision will be made shortly thereafter.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of the designs and principles of medieval/fantasy structures such as towers, houses, castles, et cetera.
