Disorganized art supplies!! Does anyone have any artist supply box suggestions?
Good to meet you all. I'm a an illustrator/fine artist in California. I work mostly with acrylic and pencil, but just recently started incorporating computers with my traditional methods. I signed on because I wanted to get connected to other artists for help. I'm looking for some advice that I couldn't find online. :/
I wanted to hear from some other working artist about which art box has worked best for your work. Is there an art box to hold supplies you can recommend to me that you use?
Hi Ginz, if you have a lot of paints as I do , then what I use is a foam seafood box complete with lid.
You have to use soap and rinse it out of course. These are usually available for free from fish markets.
Then paint the top of each paint tube cap with its own colour. Then I usually mark the shoulder indicating
whether it is opaque, semi-opaque, semi-transparent or transparent. I then stand all the tubes up in the box
in their relevant colour sections like so:
semi-opaq. yg-gb- bv-vr-ro-oy
You can use cardboard to divide the sections in the box.
So, in one glimpse I can see where everything is . As I use any tube I just put it back.
This is better then a horizontal scramble of tubes in a drawer or just all over the bloody place.
Also, if and when you have to move your paints, you just pick up one box; simple.
