Hi all, I'm an aspiring artist who wants to get into character design/concept art. It's a dream that I've had for a long time but the past couple of years have been rough and I've gone through a lot of stuff that's hindered me from getting to where I wanna be.
All thats in the past now and I'm focused on getting back to where I was a few years ago. I want that passion for drawing back in my life.
I want to improve on my digital painting mostly. But I'll be working everyday on all of my respective weaknesses in art.
Didnt really know where to start and being that it's been months since I touched my drawing tablet I decided to start with some shading exercises, it was pretty painful as my art muscle is a dribbling mess atm.
Let's see if we can get it growing nice and quickly again
I'm gonna be posting everything I do even if it's just stuff I'm not particularly proud of so here are some doodles from my sketchbook, the beggining drawings are the first I'd done in a long time, most of these done whilst I was at the beach
Your sketches are pretty cute, and they have a lot of expression. I've seen your old work and it impressed me quite a bit
This newer stuff is quite different from what you were doing before? Any reason why the stylistic changes? I don't have much to say in the way of critique unfortunately. For what they are I think they;re quite nice. Good proportions in a lot of the faces.
Was ill yesterday and couldn't bring myself to draw anything, started this study last night when I was feeling better.
Found this awesome reference album of a sculpt someone had made to help with the understanding of the planes of a head. Here's the link if anyone is interested >>> here
Here's a wip, putting it up cos I want C&C (on porpotions design whatever). Used the female study I did (scroll up) and a moebius pic as ref (as i dunno much about space suits and love those knee/shoulder pads + moebius )
Pretty happy with it but I'm sure its beaming with errors that I'm not skilled enough to see
Hey Tofa, thanks for stopping by my sb. Some cool styling here. The asaro head study turned out well Keep that kind of planar thinking in mind when mapping out forms on the body. Think of each turn in the form as another plane it can help you to simplify and find the correct forms. Keep pushing
It's been a while! Glad CA is back up and running . Here's a big dump of stuff that's been in my sketchbook and hard drive that I didnt get to post because of CA being refurbished. Loving the batch uploader such a time saver!
I've got a bunch of other pages left to scan and my tablet is bugging up so wont be doing much more digital stuff untill i can get it working properly or buy a new one. Time to get back on the anatomy grind
Sketchbook scans, this is mostly just what I've been doodling these past few weeks
my young niece and nephew got hold of some markers and my sketchbook and tagged a bunch of pages if you're wondering what all the random purple and green lines are covering some drawings x)
Caleb-Brown- Cheers man, looking for a budget tablet so I can get back to painting, looked up Alan Tew his work is really cool, watched a video he did explaining his drawing process gave me some good tips and a ton of inspiration so thanks to you for introducing me to him
Oh, your sketches are great, so graphic, nothing unnecessary. Opposite of my style And your dudes have a personality, first pages in the last post remind me drawings of Stanislaw Lem, polish fantast-writer.
