I am starting to like it, just wanting some other opinions, thanks everyone!
Each illustration is a story. This one provides little context. The title is 'Lifted to Heaven', and low and behold we see a soul 'lifted to heaven'. There's little thought given to the background to help us identify what the story is. Who is this character? Why is he being lifted to heaven? Why was he still alive when being lifted to heaven? What time period does this take place in? IMO, the lack of any narrative context makes it a boring piece overall.
Thanks for the reply Hexokinase! This piece is for a friends cd cover, this is what he asked for, what I was more interested in was how good it looked as far as anatomy, lighting......
I am also adding pyramids to the background tonight, its supposed to be an egyptian scene...
If this is for a CD cover, then my critique on narrative isn't quite as vital. You do however need to square off the canvas immediately and place in the title and artist name. The illustration and text placement should be designed together as a single piece. A composition that works in the illustration can be thrown off balance once the text is put in. Do not leave the text as an afterthought.
Good point Hexokinase, should have thought about that. I think Im gonna redo the image. Im having trouble adding a background as well. I only used one layer, I tried to save time and just work around what I had, but I gotta face the facts and start over...
