Some new works, one I had submitted for eow151. Still working them out.
Did some more work on the eow152, along with some studies
Having fun with clouds
Thank you for the comment, Sylvain-Klein
finished this one out before I go to bed.
another one for today
Dammmmmnnn. Your environments kick ass, the still lifes are just as good! Keep up the good work and studies.
Thank you all for the comments!
Much detail in these! Quite lovely. I think you need to make the foreground elements darker, and define them more. There's something not quite there in the depth.
But I'm no environment artist, so ignore what I say if I'm off-base!
Merry Christmas to you
Been kind of lazy on my practicing... need to pick the pace back up
nice work although I'd like to see them rendered a little more they still very good.
Why dream when I can do that with a pencil!
new one for the eow #154
Your landscapes are very good, but that mango study is just awesome! Keep it up!
new one for today
Finally putting time into more painting, hopefully should be able to update more frequently.
nice work so far! lovely colours in some of them (that first jungle river is awesome)
a few things tho:
- your paintings are very scribbly, and it looks like you're using only the hard round brush. while that's possibly the best brush ever, the way you use it makes your images very noisy and in some cases the shapes you're trying to paint fall apart as a result of that. a few of your paintings at first glance are just walls of noise (I'm thinking the two green jungle paintings you've done).
- the scribbly/noise issue I think adds to some compositional problems. in most of your paintings its quite hard to know immediately where to look, because you tend to put a lot of detail into every area of the image. it's like you get caught up in painting some detail you like, but don't consider what that's going to do to your whole canvas. in that last image for example there's a lot of fiddly detail on the very left, and my eye keeps getting drawn to it and there's nothing really important to see. same with the lighthouse, I keep looking at those detailed rocks in the bottom left corner and there's nothing there to look at.
I reckon have a look at paintings done by sparth, he's extremely nuanced with his focal points. frazetta as well, he's brilliant at simplifying areas to direct your attention elsewhere. in frazetta's characters you'll often see very detailed arms and faces, but the legs are just silhouettes in flat colour - very cool stuff.
First time messing around in corel painter, very fun.
new one for today.
for this weeks eow
