OKAY IM REALLY SORRY. I'm really bad at the whole forum thing but I hope to get it right this time.
WELCOME TO MY sketches. I post a lot of stuff from imagination but I will certainly get to drawing realism and life sketches. I'm not too experienced in life drawings but I have done some so I will improve with time??
Anyways enjoy and please give some critic and help out!
So I want to start it off with this!!!
So this is my dragon-like species from a distant planet that is about equal in stature of earth. As of right now I don't have a full-body for her yet but I can saw she is a bi-ped that looks rather salamander like in appearance with body markings. I am thinking of her wearing water-okay cloths, like a wetsuit or such but she's rather chicken when it comes to entering large bodies of water.
I also have like no idea how to add pictures correctly but I'll learn.
So regardless, this was created with a palette change of 4 times. I have to say that I really like how this came out but critic/help would be great!
And I have to say this piece definitely reminds me something from Dr. Seuss haha. I look forward to your progress!
Also if you want to break away from a cartoony style, study some other pictures/references of dragon like creatures so you can understand the number of different values associated with them.
really?! I don't really read too much of Doctor Suess. And I will. I do sometimes very rarely because I was trying to focus on colors so I regretly didn't work too much on cartooning.
I am slowly moving away but I guess not quick enough. So anything you would recommend to look at??? I have one book on dragons BUT I wanted to move away from clique western dragons and try to go for some not used too much.
Well before you start with dragons, have you ever worked on "realism" pieces before?
Because if not, I'd say first start painting/drawing realistic faces to understand planes and how they give 3D form.
Okay. I'll do that. I was working on another piece and trouble with that, even though it was rather easy in what I was looking at but I'll give it a go.
Should I keep drawing the stuff I have at the moment on the side?
Of course. You can still draw what you have been.
Just remember: Learn something new, and then apply it to something new or something you are currently working on.
Thank you so much! And I will start soon then!
Okay I'm not the best at memory. I forget a lot and I am really scared of this site still but I've worked up the courage to put up some more pics!
They aren't perfect but I really did give it a go.
All of these are sketches and color work for my OC Selena. I am still working on it.. I would love pointers and tips on how to get some stuff done, like working with color palettes. Maybe get a way to get crisper and darker lines so it's not all so muted.
