Hello my name is eddie and I am kinda new here. I was just wondering if I can get a critique of my first portrait. I want to get better but don't know how...
plz any comments are welcome.
At this point your only options are to keep drawing. Pick up some Loomis material on head construction and set in front of a mirror and get to learnin'!
You're going to have a crap ton of bad drawings before things start to click in your head. So don't get emotionally attached to anything your producing.
hi Eddie! seems that we are namesakes ^^
First of all, there are a lot of things completely wrong in that picture.
Perspective, anatomy, rendering, etc...
You should start doing studies of real people to improve your skills, is this from reference or from imagination?
The internet is plenty of resources you can use to improve.
Try Loomis books for the drawing and look at digital painting tutorials for the rendering.
I suggest you look here: http://enliighten.com/
or here: http://www.fengzhudesign.com/tutorials.htm
hope this helps!
Thank you some much you guys! and yes eddy we are namesakes! it's nice to meet you both!
I am just getting into all those videos from fengs and I am thinking about using more ref's and actually planning my art work out. I sometimes just get so involved I forget to do some research when I get stuck. but thanks for all the advice!
and ZombieMariachis I totally get what your saying, I shouldn't get to attached to my art because theres always room to improve and get better!
Yeah, Eddie, welcome! As Zombie said, some Loomis is defo in order. Also check out Colour and Light by James Gurney and pretty much (at this stage) any book you can get your hands on. Including comics, story books, graphic novels, illustrated magazines - everything!
update! I decided to actually use a ref and plan this one out! Thanks alot for the help before! This is my best one yet!
