Folks thank you - I think I'll leave it at that. Now bring on your critiques My goal was to get the 4 major elements to an acceptable level: face, bottle, upper hand, lower hand. Anything more I think will distract
Ok the head is a bit to high, which means the head is too tall if we are not distorting anatomy. The fingers do look a tad skinny but not much. The blue background coming in through the hair is kind of distracting to the piece.
daho - hey congrats for the wacom tablet! remember to play around with the configuration software to adjust it to your taste (pressure sensitivity ect.). i am using opencanvas3plus these days, sometimes I touch it a bit with paint shop pro 7. I don't have photoshop.. I have painter 8 but am low on memory so i can't use it! I wish i could so I can try the oil brushes... for opencanvas download the trial version online, and make sure to adjust the undo step to the max (50) I wish they had more max. the default is like 5 and that sucks. utilize layers a lot to organize your paintings, that's one way I work around the undo limitation of 50 steps.
Will post later some early progress steps like usual.
I'm starting to feel so very tempted to paint on real canvas with real paint - somehow this digital stuff is cool and all, but I feel the real thing is the traditional stuff (no undo, no easy way to do layers, no easy way to play with transparency.. gotta probably buy special paint for that or apply special oils..)
With real paint, I can actually frame this stuff and hang it on the wall! Gggrrrrr
Oregano - thanks man but let me just say that the process of making this one was quiet sloppy. This is my first time doing a black face, and I had hard times finding the right tones at first, but eventually i got hold of it. and you said it seems there was little effort there, oh man, I wish I was like that. I think we can all get there with practise though. And pal thanks for the web site I subscribed over there.
