Hey folks. Starting a thread here where I am going to post a bunch of the concept/production art work me and my team did for the recently released: "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" as well as concepts from the DLC packs (Only one has been released so far, so when others release, I will update).
I will post these in stages since there is a lot to show.
I will start off with some of the concepts I did for cities/architecture in our game. Much more to come!
Here's some "Fae" clothing set designs from Andy Murray (no relation, haha...)
Here are some creature concepts from Kat Berkley:
Looks great man, still haven't played the game yet, but hopefully I will soon!
Some creature stuff from me this time. More monsters in the next post.
All of this stuff is AWESOME. You can tell you really felt a sense of ownership. Nice work man, it makes me want to try the game.
A lot of work but it looks like a blast Sean. If I were a few years younger it might be fun to work on a project like this. I many ways some of your work looks like what I did back in the day for concept work. Lines and colors only I used markers and paints rather than the computer.
More stuff! This time, a batch of pieces by Taylor Fischer!

Very nice buildings man! Gnome's tower, especially, is pretty cool.
Congratulations for the awesome game you guys made.
Awesome work ! My personal gripe in the game was that most NPC armor on female NPCs was better than female player characters. But great game nevertheless !
Here's some more stuff from Andy Murray
And some more creature stuff from Yours Truly:
Really nice work. It is interesting to see actual production based work. It seems that you work just to get across the necessary info for the modelers to do their job and move on. I like it alot. Even with the simple unfinished look, the style and compositions start to tell a story in many of these.
Nice Work! Kingdoms of Amular is an amazing game btw.
Nick and Tom-
Haha! Well, it IS concept art, and not illustration. With a very small concept team (at times it was only 2 people) and a game with the scope of an RPG that we also wanted to have a very "designed" feel to it rather than just be an extension of the real world, we neccessarily had to use our time as wisely as possible. We usually did not have extra time to spend making our concepts flashy. That said, the intent was to help to make the final, overall product stronger by establishing and reinforcing themes and to try to help the art in our game do more "visual storytelling".
I always loved seeing the "back of the napkin" drawings that eventually turned into the Stormtrooper design or Yoda or whatever from those early days of Star Wars. The intent was much more about how to create something iconic and compelling on its own merits, which is the approach I and my team tried to take with Reckoning. Soon I will be posting some concepts from the DLCs and you will (hopefully) see our concept process evolve.
Anyways, hope you are enjoying this peek behind the curtain. Here's some more stuff:
love your creativity and liveliness. keep it up.
Super cool stuff, love your style and pencil drawings.
Having recently played the game, it's very helpful to actually compare the final ingame appearance of creatures/locations/etc and their concept pieces.
Everything is going to kill everybody.
i found it very enjoyable scanning through these works, big amounts of imagination have gone into these.
