Hello fellow citizens of Conceptart.org!
My name is Rustan, I'm from Sweden, and I thought i might pop my conceptart cherry today and start my very own sketchbook! Hurray!
So without further ado... here is a compilation of halfway sketches and kinda finished studies.
and some traditional stuff: (sorry about the shit quality of the pics, I only have my iphone 3 camera...)
Ok, if your head did not explode into a thousand pieces from looking at all of this amazing art, I'll see you guys and girls later!
To everybody who held their breath waiting for me to update my sketchbook, you're probably dead by now and I'm sorry. But I'll try to redeem myself by posting more frequently from now on. I'm aiming for an update at least once a week, so check back soon! In the meantime, here's an assortment of lines, quickies and longer paintings I've done the last couple of weeks. Enjoy!
So I've relocated from Stockholm to Asia and I'm currently staying in Bangkok! It's an amazing city with sooo much to get inspired from, you never know what your'e going to find around the next street corner here. So send me a message if your'e in Bangkok and what to go out and sketch with us or something! As awesome as this is, we (me and my two friends) are probably going to move on sometime after newyears tho, anyone got any tips on place one must visit when in Asia, preferably places/countries close to Thailand?
Here's some work I've done for a couple of boardgames a while back:
Boys and girls, buckle up! I've decided to try and combat my addiction to procrastinating and doing worthless shit by daring myself to try and post EVERY day from now until 2015. There might be times when I won't be able to post but the rule that I've set then is that the post the day before or after has to contain at least 3 images. I'll be posting a bit of everything, studies, sketches, finished stuff, whatever. So, let me present to you: post number 001 out of 365. It's just a couple of quicker studies I've done the past days (when I say quick I usually mean like an hour or two, because I'm the slowest painter in the world). It might not be the highest note to start on, but it's a start! Enjoy...
It may be past midnight, but it still counts as I still haven't gone to sleep! Here's todays upload, a couple of heads I'm doing for a company event. Not quite done, but my eyes are killing me and I need to sleep... I had the craziest nightmare of my life last night, think I might paint what I saw tomorrow if I have any time over.
So today I've got some more of those characters I'm working on for the company event + something I made for Björn Hurris class in Character Illustration over at CGMA.
Enjoy, and please do not hold back on any critique you may have!
BAH! Ok, so the electricity went out in my block yesterday, just as I was about to upload. Anyway, Here is todays upload +2, as promised.
Enjoy and have a great weekend!
Two card illustrations for an upcoming boardgame I'm working on:

Ahh... working on a saturday night.. Folks, this is how life is supposed to be lived.. But hey! atleast I managed to squeeze in some doodling time. So here are some doodles of anthropomorphic people in their underwear with guns, cuz why not!
Oh yea and this:
I'm trying to figure out how to color lineart in a good way. Anyone got any pointers?

Here is todays exciting batch of.... art? Yea, whatever. Some quick B&W studies of the ol'masters for Mr. Manleys class on Compostion. They are quite sloppy since I only had an hour and a half to do these. But..
I've been watching The Pacific (spoiler: it's not very good) alot lately and I guess that made me do this silly little thing, which I quite like. I didn't have time to put any real love into the lines but I might actually render it out sometime if I'm in the mood..
Anyway, I have a date with Mr. Sandman and I am very late.
I've got to say that this whole "post everyday" thing is kind of tiring, creatively. At least for me. But I guess it's a good way to sort of exercise my creative "stamina". And it is actually a lot of fun!
I didn't feel especially inspired today and on top of that I didn't have a lot of time to spare so I just made another uninspired girlface, since thats kinda my go-to when I can't think of anything. Looks alrite.
I've been having a real hard time to concentrate the last few days, and it sucks because I've got lots to do and am kinda short on time. Anyone have any tips or tricks you use to stay focused throughout the day? I'm the worst at it, I'm like a five year old kid! A year ago when I was staying in Bali and working there it was a lot easier as the internet was slow as shit and there was nothing to do but ride scooters, smoke and work as I stayed way out in the bushes. But now, sitting in Stockholm again, it's so easy to find distractions and reasons not to do what I'm supposed to.
Anyway, enough ranting about that. Here's todays dump, a quick lineart and a sloppy value pass underneath that of an illustration I'm working on for a client. I used to hate these sort of jobs where there are no characters, since that's kind of my favorite thing, but I find it to be more and more interesting now since I really have to think about the composition of the image to make it interesting, even tho all the components of it are "static" so to speak.
