Hi all! I've been a lurker on CA for quite a while now, but I'm just now getting the courage to start up my own sketchbook. I don't know where I plan to go with art, but I do want to improve and I really need critique and direction! As such any constructive criticism is appreciated! Thanks for taking a look.

Practice sheets, plus a thing I did for fun a few weeks ago and a drawing im working on now. Sorry if the formatting is weird, I'm not quite used to the attachment system here.
Today I did some line practices where I drew a line and then went over it 8 more times, I also did a little bit of gesture drawing and more volume + cubes.
Not much to show today, I've been sick but I managed to do some work. Line exercises and some mouth studies. Credit for the stock/reference photos goes to Kissed-stock, Kw-stock and blacksockstock of deviantart. I hope to do some studies from life soon, though!
Another update, if kind of a sparse one. The bronchitis had me down for a few days but I'm picking back up! I did some more line exercises, skethed a horse thing as a gift for someone, drew my hand from life a few times as well as tried some perspective. I need to work on drawing from life more, as well as perspective definitely. Lots to do!
Nice entrance and great courage to start a sketchbook here,
you surely have some talent, I don’t have anything special to
suggest, except that you keep on going, draw, paint, post
and the mileage will pay off.
Keep up with the good work,
and don’t let bronchitis to bring you down.
Thank you! I'm definitely going to keep trying/working on various things. I think I'm a little directionless right now but either way I'm still trying to move forward. Thanks for dropping by!
Here are a few things I've drawn since recovering from the bronchitis. The first is drawn from a picture of Marina and the Diamonds for my reference, the 2nd is a gift drawing for a friend of mine and the 3rd is just a figure from memory. I hope to have more exercises in the coming days, though.
Nice sketchbook. Looks like you're doing all the right stuff. Keep going!
Thanks Rosesor! I'll keep working at it.
Not a whole lot to report today. I did a bunch more line practices but I wont be able to scan them in for a couple of days. I tried a value study from a photo of Mads Mikkelsen, it's my first ever one and Im not really sure where to go from there! Or if I should just try that again in a while when I have line/form and such down better. I did some more volume/sphere things as well, and a portrait of one of my pets on a website I play.
I'm not particularly happy with these but I'm posting them for record/because I need to be honest about where I am skill-wise and what I've been up to!
Next update will have all traditional drawing stuff, line studies, gesture studies and hopefully a little life drawing!
Some traditional stuff like i said Line practice, rounded cubes, some gestures and a dragon. I think i need to do more gestures, they really didnt go well this time. Oh well though, just means i need to keep practicing!
An update! Not a whole lot going on recently, I've been doing some figure drawing and drawing more dragons, mostly. There's also the planning for a gift for someone and portraits of a couple characters from a show I enjoy, but I'm not fond of how they turned out. I did 1 self portrait as well, which is the 2nd image in this post.
