I'm graduating soon with my first BFA in studio art, and although I'll be back in school shortly, I think it's finally time I start advertising myself on the internet. Generally, what seems the most professional? I thought about getting a public Facebook page or a tumblr, but a lot of professional artists I've seen have their own websites. Then there's always things like having a Saatchi profile. I want to go the route that's easiest to update and cheap, but still professional-looking even for a student. What kind of experience do you guys have with starting out?
Well, my goals include going the gallery route or selling my paintings, and getting a job as an animator (that's what the second degree is for). So, right now, my main goal with a website of some kind is to sell paintings or get gallery contact. I'm also planning on teaching myself digital art applications so I can do commissions in the future. Fine arts and commercial arts in a blend, if you will.
