So after some months without posting anything and even worse, not drawing and painting, I’m back! In fact I got myself together and started drawing mostly in Ps but also in oil on canvas. The only problem was that I couldn’t post it here on Ca. Like it’s the most important thing in the world! It made me think of who I really work for. Who do I want to impress? Well, those weeks of not posting on Ca (because of maintenance), have helped me to relax a bit and find the essence with my drawings and paintings. The attention is nice, but it can also cause stress when you constantly try to perform. I am probably not the only one feeling this way. Now I look forward to improve myself and learn more from you all.
D_art, Thanks a lot! Some improvement, but still much to work on.
Jondawo, Thanks for the support! Good to know!
Jaik, Thanks dude! I’ll do my best!
Zy., Thanks, glad you like it! I really appreciate the pictures from the “Frozen Lakes”, thanks!
Ricardo Robles, Thanks for your good advice! Those words have in fact helped me to work easier with the pen and when I feel like I’m overdoing it, I think of those words “keep the lines quick and simple, instead scratching over the same zones”. I’m very grateful to you!
DaveGarcia, Thanks dude! Good to have a companion to share this adventure with! All crit is welcome!
HeleenSG, Thanks a lot sis!
Velocity Kendall, Thank you so much! You know, I really appreciate those words! Yep, I’ll keep struggling!

Jaik, thanks for visiting again! Ah thanks for those words dude! I’m glad to have made some improvements
giby, Thanks a lot! Will do
Working mostly with the head and the body...
Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook!
Your recent painting studies are looking great, and I love the different lighting effects you've captured. I also really like the first environment painting you did, with the bridge on a steep snowy mountain. It's good to see you working on your figure drawings - you're already working on learning the basic structure, which is great. Keep practicing that and observe the figure carefully. Lots of improvement from page 1, keep it up
Awesome work! Your digital studies are looking really nice. Keep sketching!
Your colorstudies are very cool Ö_Ö please keep up!
And perhaps, try to make more photoshop works from imagination. That helps to learn faster I think *_*
Hey man great SB! I'm really seeing a ton of improvement! Your painting skills are getting awesome! I noticed in your first post on this page the comp with the horses, there's too much empty space in it. I'd suggest maybe doing some composition studies from movies (you don't have to fully render or anything just think about 3 different tones, dark, lighter, lightest to create the sense of space) If you notice you can take those composition studies that are not detailed and just put any kind of character in there that you want. Keep it up!
Great going with those lighting studies! I particularly like the glass in post #64. The portrait of your niece above is quite good, although the individual hairs on the head look just a little fussy, maybe keep more of them as a mass next time. The pencil studies don't look as nice, obviously, but they're necessary to getting a better understanding of the body, so I'm glad you're doing them -- keep going with those.
Kevin, Thanks a lot!
KDillon, Thanks, glad to hear! Sure will!
jNeumannn, Thanks a lot, happy to hear! Will do.
yphiel, Thanks! You’re probably right! Will try some of that aswell.
Liquorbleu, Thanx! Yeah, I did get a lot of empty space in that one. It’s hard to get the idea from the head and down into the image in the right way. I need lots of practice. Thanks for the advice! Seems interesting, I might try it.
Vineris, Thanks! Haha, I’ll keep on struggling, promise! Thanks for the crit, I appreciate it!
Some Loomis heads today and some figure drawing, Pixelovely.
Starting with Bridgman's "Proportions of the human figure" today.
Much fun with Bridgman....
Hey you, thanks for dropping by!
I had seen your sb before, just hadn't commented. Never quite know what to say really..
Interesting to see all your Bridgman studies. Do you get along with them? I often find myself copying him more than anything- just can't deal with the weirdness!
I love your still life-s, they are very accurate. I would love some more traditional stuff though, just to loose that digital look (unless that's what you are going for).
Keep at it I'm sure you'll reach a point where you no longer regret not having started earlier. Who knows.
LordLouis, Thanks for visiting and for the nice and encouraging words!
The Bridgman studies are kind of weird compared to many others, agree with that. But actually I like to draw that kind of body forms. Didn’t know it before since I’ve just started drawing the body some months ago. I do copy everything but I do so with Loomis too. I hope I’ll be able to use this practice in other studies and when I draw from my mind. For the moment I sketch mostly on paper and in Ps. The digital art fascinates me so much. I haven’t done that for so long time. I’ll show some of my other stuff, thanks for asking.
asa, Thanks a lot and for visiting!
A litle bit of this and a litle bit of that. The sketches and the crayon are from today and the paintings were made some while ago.
Nefertiti, crayon. One of her eyes looks more weird than the other. The original head looked liked that, so...
Anatomy studies, from some book I found at the library.
Acrylic x 2, from my mind.
Oil x 3, the two first are photo studies and the last is from my mind.
Erm, those oils are fairly amazing. Wow.
Your line work has improved dramatically (but that you probably can see by yourself and your landscapes are lovely. The dedication to detail is amazing (the glass! the glass!) especially considering the round hard brush you use for ps studies (have you tried using an irregular, slightly textured brush? in my experience they help to blend colors in a nice, organic way). I like the portrait of your niece too, although it seems that if she was drawn from a photo reference, the photo itself was taken from too short a distance- and distorted the form.
But my all time favorite are the flowers! Seriously amazing job. Every time i visit your sketchbook i get transfixed by them XD I just stare and feel like i can touch and smell them. Very lively yet delicate.
Keep up the good work!
(and please paint some more flowers XD )
Thanks for posting your traditionals- they're lovely. Especially the oils. I like that smooth look you can get with them.
jondawo, Thanks a lot!
kabewu, Aww, thank you very much for the feedback! I’m glad you like them so much, especially the flowers! It's very motivating! You’re right, I mostly use the round brush. It’s just a bad habit using just the same the whole time. I definitely want to learn more about other types of brushes and textures. Any advice is welcome.
When I painted the image of my niece I thought something was off with the proportions. But I thought it was just me having problems with the perspective. Now I know, thanks for the advice and for viseting!
Jaik, Thanks dude! Will do!
LordLouis, Thanks, glad to hear! In fact I’m just a novice. I don’t have any technique in traditional at all. Hopefully I’ll get time to work on that. Cause I really want to improve. Maybe I’ll take a class or study from some site on the net. And there are of course books to learn from.
Doodles from today. Mostly heads from Loomis.
Hey ! Cool begining here Make a lot of exercises with Bridgman and Loomis! They are a kind of bible for learning the basics ! Take time when you make some studies to observe, it doesn't matter if you use more time to make your drawings, the aim is to forge your eye ! ;D
Good luck guy ! Keep it up!
Izzual, Thanks for the advice and for dropping by!
Today........ an ostrich!
Autumn is definitely here. On my morning walk I found these chestnuts. Interesting things to sketch. But it was hard!
Really great values on that last post! Your digital works and renderings are looking pretty good! Im loving the loomis heads! Keep going and thanks for stopping by my sketchbook! The only sugestion i would say is do some more perspective studies! Perspective is the key to everything!
Impressive studies in post #64!
And really big amount of studies are getting you along
keep it up!
