I'm finally making a sketchbook after lurking around so much. I've got way too many images to post at once, so I'll only post some of my more recent sketches for now. Unfortunately, I have a habit of not finishing what I start. Maybe this will encourage me to actually work to improve my waning skills and draw more then I currently am. Sorry if the pictures are a little blurry.
I know the wings comes out it's neck, but I'd already drawn it and didn't feel like erasing it when the body didn't work out.
Not too sure how those little arms work.
This was an idea I had for making a fat dragon. It belches poison.
These are so creative! I'm a newbie here at CA too. I love all the little creatures you designed. >w< They're so cute. Not sure if that was the intended effect, but I like them. xD

I like the idea of the dragon, would be cool to see a more finished piece for that one.
As you said yourself, try to push your sketches to a more finished state.
I find myself learning more when I do, In a quick sketch you tend to leave mistakes in that you would have solved otherwise and wouldn't make anymore in the future then.
I lie that dragon as well, I'd really like to see if fleshed out more. If you do work on it more, look up photos of large lizards like Komodo dragons and obese people so you can get an idea of how weight hangs. Right now he looks like a grub... although that's pretty neat itself.
A grub? Aren't those use to clean rotted flesh from wounds? Or am I thinking of maggots? Anyway, I'll be sure to draw a more finished version of it sometime. I went to an art contest this morning along with most of the art students in my class. It went pretty well, in my opinion. It's a great feeling when people see your art and they light up, isn't it? When I get my drawing back next week I'll post it along with the other work I was entering, but couldn't. More art time!
I got a small pack of conte crayons while I was at that contest. I previously used them last year with a master study. They're fun, but really messy. I was just trying these new ones out.
I was experimenting with line thickness and a brush pen, as well as how it worked with color pencil. It's rather sloppy.
I've started putting ink on this drawing. When I get done with that, it gets shaded with a pencil.
This is only really rough sketch. I really don't like how the right creature looks. I'll redraw it later.
Here are some of my older drawings, from about two/three-ish years ago. I've got so many more drawings from before that, mostly on lined paper, but I'm not going that far back unless it's really good.

Closeup of the lefternmost sphynx
Inspired by a smudge on my eraser
I feel this is one of my best, unfortunately marred by the frog and salamander
It's pretty interesting looking back at my old stuff and seeing how my skill has actually improved and declined at the same time. But you wouldn't know that, because I'm lazy, keep forgetting to find my camera, and post new stuff instead of old. I really must post more than once a month. D:
