@ sapleboy - thanks, I'm starting to see it too
@ S.F. Batchelor - cheers , I've attempted some oils (I have no clue what I'm doing) maybe i'll photograph eventually!
So somehow it's five months later, this year has really flown by D:
I've been branching out into more digital work, colour, environments, and more recently animal anatomy. Also trying to devote more time to drawing from memory and imagination.
For reference: Online Life Drawing, Drawing Tutorials Online, The Drawing Script, armstreet.com, Fotolia, Photo refs for Comic Artists.
Really need to start posting daily instead of in bulk T_T
Pretty strong stuff, your lines look better than what I can do and your poses are already looking dynamic.Soon they'll be even more.Good job!
You seem to work really hard, keep it up! I can see improvements!
Youre sketches already look really good btw.
Drawing everyday pays off!

Oh yea! I can see improvements already. What construction method do you use for your figures? Looks like Loomis.
"Observing the world around me"
So much dedication - it's fantastic!!
Do you ever draw from life, too? It's fun and challenging - like when you decide to go out and about, realize you didn't bring the right tool, use whatever you've got and do-what-you-do anyhow! Or when the environment creates extra challenge (light, temperature, motion-of-a-bus, noise, whatever). The results can be surprising. Also, I believe I've heard that photos are not technically accurate to what the human eye sees, since, with two eyes, the brain uses two lenses to create depth, but, a camera only having one lens, flattens the depth.... or something.
But! What you've been doing -working through anatomy reference and instruction- is exactly what I'd like to do! By-the-by, I saw some "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" in there - to me: A classic! I've thought of working through that one from beginng to end for reminiscent fun (my copy must be 15 years old, or something). Thanks for the inspiration!!
@ SeriousMalz - thanks for the encouragement, it helps!
@ Colour Coded - I've studied mainly Loomis and Bridgman for construction, but to be honest I'm not really thinking about a particular method when I draw. Maybe I should be ?
@ angieb - thanks for looking! It's true, I need to force myself to go out more and SEE REALITY rather than reading books and studying photos all the time. The temptation is always to stay in the house chained to the drawing/computer desk 24/7
Long time since my last post.
Just digital stuff today. Doing more from imagination, and feeling more confident with value and colour.
I've been trying to draw in a more analytical way and really feel the three-dee-ness of things rather than just the outline.
Just leaving some motivation, you're working hard man! Keep it going!
