this is the first w.i.p. I post in this thread, so I'm very excited to hear every kind of feedback. The original sketch is from 2007,
but I kinda liked the idea, so I tried to redesign and paint it. Slowly I understand how to use value to create 3d in 2d space.
But the values are wrong anyhow. Because the right half of her must be much more darker. And omg, her upper body looks totally wrong. ò.O
Lot to do!
Any suggestions, feedback and critique are welcome. Rip me apart!
Here is my first attempt (3,5 hours work already).
Sketch your structure first before painting, you still need it. Make sure your base sketch looks correct and works compositionally before you continue. Have the wings curve up again like in your original sketch, right now they're dividing top and bottom and interrupting the flow.
Lhune Thanks a lot. Since I read your post I have done sketch after sketch. All rough, nothing correct, to get my composition and flow. Here are the two I like the most.
The one in the left is the original sketch underneath the painting. My favorite is the middle one. It looks the most dramatically I think.
