I see you are following Glenn Vilppu, I also picked up his drawing manual and started learning recently. You have some great stuff mate! I wish you good luck.
Hey r4fay check out Michael Hampton and his book. Amazing supliment for Vilppu!
Ok more stuff.
Embarrassing life drawings
Making Loomis Mannequin My Bitch!! Front view first.
CGMW Homework. First time doing proper environment thumbs!! Very hard but still fun.
Cool perspective thumbnails and other studies! It's great to see that you are still so dedicated.
What I was gonna suggest is that, particular for staircases, see if you can't start with a big block and then carve the stairs out of that via cross-sections. I can maybe upload an example if my explanation isn't clear.
Anyhow, keep up the hard work! I'll check back on your stuff again later too.
Hey syrella, thanks I think i know what you mean about the staircase but if you do have an example laying around it would be cool to see it! My stairs are very wonky since they are all different bloody sizes!
OK, here are some examples of what I mean. Start with a big block in whatever perspective you want (isometric, one-point, two-point). Figure out where you want the stairs to start and end.
You can then subdivide the other faces of the block into equal little sections depending on where you want your stairs to go such that you end up with columns and rows of equal widths. You can then "carve" the stairs out like that. To subdivide, remember that you can take the diagonal from both corners of the object's face. The place where they intersect is always the midpoint.
Also, a little shortcut that I discovered is that you can take advantage of the fact that staircases can be simplified into "ramps" (see the photograph I linked). It will help in two ways - a) less things to measure out and b) it can serve as a visual reminder for how deep or wide you want your staircase.
Is that a little clearer?
Whirl! I like the environment stuff dude! My only crit would be the lack of depth due to tones and stuff but hey enviro's are hard for me as well. Anatomy is hard man! Double up!!
Hey dude! I did some reds for you. I was checking out your perspective and found some inconsistencies. There was also a HUGE tangent one the shape above.
I am not sure what the shape was so i sketched it out again. Is that what it's supposed to look like?
You should do thumbnails for your animation too. For the keys at least.
Awesome man thanks! You are absolutely right something went terribly wrong in my plotting in that one!
Quick Loomis page ... have no idea whether I'm making progress. If I am its painfully slow!
Some of my work during the down time. Mostly trying to master loomis figure construction techniques. The Sculpt is a study after Jordu Schell.
Nice loomis studies, mate. Keep them up =)!
GRIND GRIND GRIND GRIND!!!!
Good job with the Loomis studies. Just keep pushing through and stay consistent.
your sculpt's are very nice.
See alot of improvement in your drawing too!
Looking for Feedback! Please visit my sketchbook..
Thanks Johan and kambei!
Here is more Loomis grind!!! FUCK YOU HUMAN BODY I SHALL LEARN YOU WHETHER U LIKE IT OR NOT!!!
Needs more clenching.
You are absolutely right Diarum. I was trying to use the ref less and less as I did more but I definitely need to do straight from memory and THEN correct, until I get it right. I am slowly memorising the proportions. Should have some new stuff to post soon, and on that subject UPDATE YOUR SKETCHBOOK man!!
Really solid anatomy/perspective studies! Now you just need to take the time to apply them to imaginative works!
Thanks Amarok, imaginable work seem far off to me
Just some horrific useless lifedrawings!!
awe man, idk if you would want to see those updates. I am pretty sure I've lost of a lot of knowledge, I stopped drawing for a while and just started to pick it back up again. Though I have been slowly regaining some of that lost knowledge. Like I was having some problems with my deltoids but I kinda worked out what was wrong. Then I opened my loomis book that I got from amazon a while ago, and have done a couple of arm studies, mostly memory. But many tomorrow I will upload a page or two!
nice work dude i big jump from when you JUST started taking life drawing, i see the improvement keep at it.
Thanks Steph n Richi!! Good to know you guys are noticing improvement. Started this SB around Christmas time and it nearing that time again so I need to step up my game so my last pages are better than my first!!
Im working through the Charles Hu DVD to supplement my Loomis study and it is really excellent I definitely recommend it.
Crits and Comments extremely welcome since I am trying to memorize ideal proportions. Im gonna get my proportion problems sorted dam it!
My figure above needs LOADS of corrections.
Took a break from anatomy to do a photostudy finally!! (I was too scared to approach one)
Here is the quick warm up sketch I did for it
Some life drawing to be me down after doing a painting I liked
