Sigh .... What happened to my daily update?
Well, just been busy really. Been reading a bunch of books about perspective and been trying to apply it to my enviroments ... Will upload some of thoose soon.
Anyway, heres some studies and personal work:
You are doing so well with those portrait, but the problem is you still using very monochrome color on the face, there is only the bright and the dark value of the same skintone color, try to use more color to make it look vivid and lively.
Hey everyone. The last few months have been really something ... I graduated school ... I vent on a 5 week amazing roadtrip to USA ... When I got back home, I found out that my life had collapsed on itself ... but thats a diffirent story!
Now im left with nothing but time (atm anyway, I guess you can never know what to expect next), so I decided to come back to updating all my threads. I will really do all I can to just produce as much art as possible and improve as much as I possibly can. Any critiscism or advice would be really apreciated! Maybe this time, I can actually succeed in doing updates pretty much every day.
I've been doing tons and tons of studies and art during this long break from the internet, but i'll just go ahead and show you some really recent stuff (only some sketches and personal work). The last image is a WIP of Bloodsports 2: Swamp elder:
Todays harvest haha. Bunch of anatomy studies, color study, sketches and some progress on swamp elder. I was really planning on finishing it today, but I need to focus a bit longer on the enviroment tomorrow.
Until tomorrow - Cya!
Just a little bit of stuff today, but better then nothing I guess. I took some time today to read some artbooks and similar on color. Gonna focus on color this week and see how it goes. Also gonna finish my thumbs for bloodsport 3.
Heres a study and some sketches.
Hey! You're doing what I just learned I should do. Draw from ref then draw from memory. (a slight difference for me - imagination, ref, memory) It's amazing how much I digest from just doing that routine. This week's sketches were very motivational for that reason for me. And I'm on arms and legs too!! 8D I'm glad I found your stuff. It's awesome! May I ask where you're grabbing these arm refs? From the customary pixel lovely?
Great stuff man! Will be subbing
Hey man! Thank you for stopping by. Your gestures and line studies are turning out great. The output on your renders is very good, I would suggest making it all a bit less soft though, try to experiment with rendering at 100% opacity and hardness(my bad, I think you might have started doing that actually ), it might be awkward at first, but I think it could potentially work! Anyway, keep up the work!
@ Niquey: Thanks! It's an extremely effective way to learn IMO. I will do it for all my anatomy studies (and other studies too) from now on. As for the place I grab the refs, yes, it's pixelovely all the way! Awesome site!
@ ancientdrake: Thanks! I will try that experiment tomorrow and see how it feels!
Also ... OPS! I forgot to update this thread yesterday! Honest mistake!
Heres yesterdays and todays stuff. Except for the gestures, all from imagination:
your pencil work in the the first post are very good! really like it man and like the confidence of your lines! keep it up!
Good stuff! I think you are doing great work, I just find that flatness is a problem in a lot of these... think more about volume? twisting and taking up space? Not sure how to word it. Try to imagine your subject matter as being in like a digital sculpting software where you can look around, turn around, etc.

Niquey: Haha, thanks a bunch.
the-muddy: Thanks for the crits. I have put a lot of thought into what you said, and I am thinking about it for my next painting.
Heres a few new things. I don't rly feel like coming here anymore, since the site is down and out of service so often ... But god dammit, I won't let this sketchbook die!
I'm missing the more traditional stuff - I know it's a pain to scan photo etc, but it's part of you. You said earlier your school was going to teach you traditional painting and perspective - I haven't seen any of that yet. Are you holding out on us?
Your studies are looking fine and are going in the right direction, but you need to mix more still lives in there and spend some time on them pushing values.
dennis your colours are improving! keep going!!
